Welcome to the Sunshine Quilters - our website is http://webpages.charter.net/cmladronka/
Our mission is to bring sunshine into the life of our receivers.

Each member is asked to make a block for each of the assigned hosts each month. The host then assembles and donates quilts to the children's charity of their choice. Some help by making more than one block for a host or by sending other supplies to the host.

To join, post on this thread your intention to join and send an email to Char77. Rosy is the dear lady who came up with this wonderful project, we are very thankful to her for this unselfish endeavor, as well as all Ruth and Char do for us. Please be sure to put "Sunshine Quilter" in the subject line of the email. Someone will send you directions and information.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help. You can choose to host a month and donate to the charity of your choice as well as making blocks to send out to listed hosts.

Blocks are to be sent to the host members around the 1st of their month. If late, email the member with your intentions to send later. If you can't make a block that month, that's ok, sometimes life is too busy. Post here and perhaps someone can send extra blocks to the host that month.

The list of monthly hosts and their choice blocks (with links) is posted at the "Sunshine Quilter's website indicated above.

Come join the Fun and Smiles this Sunshine Group brings to us all!

Thanks to San for the introduction.

I'm working on the may blocks for Joyce this weekend since I sewed the triangles backwards on two of the squares. I thought they looked great at first leave it to me. I won't be in a hurry this time.

I recieved Quiltnanny's lovely blocks in the mail - Way cool!
It didn't sync in with me, the opening. How could I have missed it? We are to make a quilt for a children's charity! I have had in my head all along to make a quilt for a nursing home. That's why the deeper, rich colors.
Please bare with me, ladies - I will turn this project into a guilt for a youth - not a baby, but something acceptable for a 'children's charity' after all. I just may be able to make two quilts with the varity of blocks I've accumulated.
Here is another block I just finished. I have 3 more cut and will be sewing them up.

    joyce~
the charity you donate to is completely your choice! we tend to concentrate on kids programs, but have done all sorts of different things. so, feel free to do what you wish. That's why I love seeing pics of the blocks to be made - so I can kind of get an idea what types of fabrics to use. So No worries - remember, this is supposed to be FUN!!!

And, you will be getting blocks throughout the month, so you should have plenty for at least 2 quilts!! my sister is comig for the weekend to help me plant (if it's not raining!!) If it rains, we will be sewing and your blocks are first on the list Big Grin

Joyce, I also have some May blocks underway for you. Well, actually I have two of them cut out thus far and hope to soon get some sewing done.

I was home all day today but unfortunately I needed to rest more than I needed to sew. Hopefully tomorrow will be a high energy day.

Wiley - the block for July is called "Beginners Choice." It's a block from the Quilter's Cache. Here's a link...

    http://www.quilterscache.com/B/BeginnersChoiceBlock.html

I volunteered for this month. I am donating to one of the Ronald MacDonald Houses in San Antonio, TX. I am hoping to make one quilt for a girl and one for a boy, so bright colors would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, think I already have a copy of that pattern. Ronald McDonald is always a great place to donate to.

Now it doesn't take much these days to confuse me, and I'm at that point right now. I'm ready to make May blocks, the Party Hats block.

I understand that they are for kids now. Are florals acceptable????
    Are juveline prints acceptable????

As for background fabrics, are white on white acceptable or just other sorts of neutrals?????

    Awaiting answers before I begin.
    hugs,

Quiltbea, and anyone else confused by my multiple posts:
I will create quilts with whatever you ladies send me.
    I feared I should only do a child's charity.
I was set straight, I may do any charity I choose.
Please follow the post on the Sunshine website if you can. If not, I will find something 'charitable' to do with the blocks you send. Anything you send will be acceptable.
    Florals are fine.

    Sounds good to me.
I already made up three with white on white background and wanted to be sure they were OK to send.
    Thanks for clarifying for me.

Oh great - I was cleaning the car today and what did I find under the seat - a package of blocks for Shawlk... So sorry, will get them mailed later this week.

Haven't been able to do any since that month. I'm afraid it is going to be awhile before I get to more blocks.

Angela - those blocks are great! I never thought of arranging them that way, but I love it. When I get more, I will have so much fun playing on my design wall. I am getting so excited about this!
