Hi All, below is an explanation of what we do. I'm taking over from Char who has coordinated this group for the last several years.

I will be sending an email to the current participants to verify information and confirm their continued participation. But it would be great if you'd confirm on this thread that you plan on continuing to participate.

If you would like to commit to making a block or two for the monthly hostess we certainly would like to have you join us. Please respond to this thread of your intentions and also PM me with the following information: name, address, phone number, email address. Put "Sunshine Quilter" in the subject line of the PM.

========
Welcome to the Sunshine Quilters - our website is listed at the bottom this note. Our mission is to bring sunshine into the life of our receivers.

Rosy is the dear lady who came up with this wonderful project, we are very thankful to her for this unselfish endeavor.

Each member is asked to make a block for the assigned hostess each month. The hostess then assembles and donates quilts to the charity of their choice. Some help by making more than one block for a hostess or by sending other supplies.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help. You can choose to host a month and donate to the charity of your choice as well as making blocks to send out to listed hostess.

Blocks are to be sent to the hostess members around the 1st of their month. If late, email the member with your intentions to send later. If you can't make a block that month, that's ok, sometimes life is too busy. Post on the monthly thread and perhaps someone can send extra blocks to the hostess that month.

The hostess then should send me a photo of the completed quilt(s) for our photo album.

Thanks for taking over, elainetoo!

I've gone ahead and deleted the other Sunshine Quilters website and photo album so nobody will get confused.

I would love to continue to be a part of this group if it is OK if I cannot make blocks every month. It seems like I go in spurts of having time to participate.

If you prefer only people who can participate all the time, I understand and will just make quilts on my own.

Hi Elainetoo,

I am still not sure of 2013 yet. I will try to do blocks starting again in 2013 but I am not sure about hosting a month yet. Can I still be listed? Chris Holub/Quilter Chris

We all would like to participate on a monthly basis with blocks, but life doesn't always give us the time needed. So yes to those that would like to remain on the list but aren't sure they can be a consistent block maker.

Just continue to participate as often as you can to help out the monthly hostess. And also remember, it doesn't hurt to ask later, if time allows, to see if a past hostess can still use more blocks.

I'll check my PM's and emails later.

Current members, if you haven't seen an email from (elainedutch...) please check your SPAM folder. If you still don't have it, please let me know.

The email asked to verify your current mailing info and also if you'd like to host a month and requested info about the block. It's early yet, but the January and February months are important to get setup before December.

Elainetoo, thanks for taking on this project. Char thanks to you too for all you've done in the past.

I'll continue to make blocks. I find that I get into a block making mode and then make them for the months ahead. Just seems easier to me to do that while I have stuff out and the list of which blocks are needed.

I did not get an e-mail Elaine. I'll pm you with my information.

Charming... hope you got the email now.

I have completed the upload of the past quilts and have also added the block and hostess for January.

Let me know if you're interested in hosting a month.

Elaine, I would like to be a (better) participant!

I replied to your email with my new address. Not that I plan on hosting for 2013 with retreat preparations in full swing.

Thanks for keeping this going,

Hi Elaine,

OK I have decided to commit to 2013.

Can I claim July and December 2013 as host of blocks????

July Specifics:

12 1/2 inch blocks before quilting. I find it easier to do these and it gives more choices. No specific colors -- just fun blocks. No child fabrics but any prints etc will work.

December Specifics:

12 1/2 inch blocks before quilting. Winter fabrics are fine but I would like to stay away from deliberate Christmas prints.

Thank you for taking over and good luck. Chris Holub/Quilter Chris

Thank you Chris. I'll put you on the schedule for next year.

And to let you know I did get some blocks cut today for KC for Oct, Nov and for you for Dec. Hoping to get some sewing done over the next week.

I'll also take a month, wherever you want to put me is also fine. Quilter's choice, 12 1/2" blocks, wow background, bright colors please. And, my goal for 2013 is, less drama and more consistent sewing time!!

Thanks FayeJean and Aliquilt.

How about FayeJean - Feb and Aliquilt - Mar. That will fill us up until June.

FayeJean, please send me your requirements as soon as you decide on the block.

I've updated the schedule.. there are 3 months left (4 if someone wants a month for their favorite charity - as I can give up the Oct slot).

Elaine,
The month of February is great. My block is a 9" block Dutch Nine Patch. Please use pastels and white on white as the other color.

Thanks

Thank you to all the hostesses that have signed up for a month. The last month was just filled (Thanks Jmauk) - so we have a good year of different blocks and some new hostesses.

All the hostesses are looking forward to receiving blocks to make quilts for their favorite charity. Hope you all can at least do one block a month in between life's requirements.

The schedule is on the blog listed below and the address list has been emailed to those that have committed to the SunShine Quilters. If you didn't get that membership list, and expected it, please PM me.

See you in 2013 and remember we still have hostesses looking for blocks for Nov and Dec this year.

My year next year is going to be geared toward stashbusting my mountains of scraps. I have tried to participate in the past but fell off the grid. I will try this again if you will have me and I would like to host a month. I will pm you and pick a pattern ànd Colorado choice.
