I think I might just try this. I have a baby quilt that I need to make before March 10. I've ordered a baby quilt kit but I might just save it for another baby. I won't be able to sew all day but this sounds like fun & easy. Thanks for posting the link.

luv2craft: She is soooo good and I'm sure you'll enjoy following along with her instructions. She often provides other sizes for her projects but with this one she is giving a choice of fabrics we might like to use. Take your pick...two colors or all kinds of fabrics.

And, of course, if you have any questions, it seems several on the board will be making this and I know they will help you.

I am in the midst of a disaster in my sewing room - re-arraning things and working at making it tidier and more organized.. meaning, so I can actually get to stuff and when I take things (books) off my bookshelf, I can actually put them back on it!! And I and come to the board for a bit of a break and find this!!! Eek

And I hate to admit it, but both instuctions are printed off!!! Red Face: Not just the scrappy, which is what I thought (what AM I thinking here!! Confused ) I would do, have pieces in boxes I can use up, but I also have yardage that would work...... and I should not be doing this at all!!!!!

Love the fabrics shown above - all of them!!! Too much fun!!! And the reason I am thinking this would be good to do is because, what else is there to do on Sunday when it's winter out there but mostly because this is the year I am learning to machine quilt and projets like this are perfect for that!!!

See you tomorrow!!! Red Face:

Sorry I've been away from the Board for so long- holidays, then travel to CA for new GS, then another new GS here in OH (and you know that means baby quilts HAD to be made by this Grandma! Lol!)

But, now I'm back and ready to get started! I've downloaded the fabric info for both versions of this quilt and will be making the scrappy version (what a surprise! Do I ever make any other type of quilt? Lol!)

Nice to know someone noticed I had been gone! Thanks, May!

Wish I would have started this earlier in the week, I think it is going to be a very cute quilt. I just looked at clue #4 and it is darling and easier than I thought it would be. Let's see pictures of what you ladies made, ok?

Quiltcat that is beautiful...

We are a little slow here...I have a "design opportunity"...because I didn't cut the 7" squares and my leftover light wasn't enough fabric left..not knowing what the pattern was going to be I substituted another color and it is NOT working so I have to find another substitute light that will fill in but I do not have anymore green polka dots Frown

I have been sewing on my old mechanical machine and it is not as aah refined as my Janome 6500.

OH THAT'S GREAT!!!! I like it! Happy, just pretty and it's done!!! Love it!!! Big Grin

I have not started, but I have the how-to's for both quits printed out and going into my mystery binder. I love mystery quilts - and one day I just might have to make a quilt like this - and it being done in a day, that would be a fun thing to do on a weekend retret with friends... or just a days sewing, but a weekend would be more fun I think!!! Wink

Thanks for showing us the pic quiltcat!!!

L.L. It was a little much for a one day quilt. Weekend is more like it. When I decide to do a mystery I like to get it done right away, otherwise it might sit until who knows when.

May - after all the work you've done so far, take your time to find the right replacement fabric.

I was able to salvage my mistake and make it work, after cutting 3 different replacement fabrics...now I just need to get it sewn together. My friend got hers done and when she showed me she said "do I have something wrong?" Yes..her last row on the bottom, she had sewn the hearts upside down so I'll show a picture of both when they are done.

This Mystery has/is a nice finished project...but gads all those HST's and done not the way I do HST drove me nuts. I wish we could have made more of those in the homework/cutting portion up front.Quiltcat is right it was not a one day mystery. It did go slower at my house because of sharing table, space, tools etc.

It is a perfect size for the neo unit at the hospital.

Did not get to do this because of acute machine malfunction but I will be doing it. It is a cute quilt. I am in love with the scrappy version!!!! And I've got the scrappy squares to use with it.

I did cheat and have seen the end result and I will not be doing as many HSTs as the pattern calls for. There are going to be more flying geese than HSTs.

I'm happy for those that have done it. TcMay hope you found the right substitute for your fabric.

Hindsight is always 20-20, right. Well, seeing a finished product is always useful for future interpretation. Here is my vision for doing that quilt.

And I've really got nothing pressing to do today sooooo, I'm gonna be busy in my scraps. You betcha!!!!!

Paus, I never know what to do for scrappy. I love your version of what I'm going to call a controlled scrappy! Can't wait to see your finished quilt.

Well, it will be a little less controlled when I get started. I was too lazy to go through and color each individual block in the hearts so they got repeated. lollll

I'm planning to do them grab bag style. Whatever comes out of the box next is what gets sewn. We'll see where that gets me.

I haven't looked at the pictures today and I do like the scrappy ones. The one where she went allll scrappy is great!!!!

The difference between the pattern as posted and my drawing at first is I replaced about 30 of the HSTs with Flying Geese at the tops of the hearts and changed the way the large heart was made to remove the HSTs completely on the bottom and changed the top. After posting my drawing, I saw another place to get rid of HSTs and got rid of about 60 more of them at the bottoms of the individual hearts by using a single corner piece instead.

I also reduced the size by half so it can be used as a table topper for the time being. I have a hope of making it into a bed runner by adding two more to it.

I am looking forward to giving this a go.

ETA: Sometimes it does help to attach the picture.

Sometimes a picture does not tell it all, thanks Paus4

Here is my Top finally done. I did find my pre-cut 7" squares I thought I hadn't cut. Then proceeded to cut too far trimming bunny ears so had to frog & replace the HST. But it is done, just needs quilted. It was fun to do and I like the design.
