I just went in and changed mine to "Custom" What you need to do is pick out a picture from your files and resize it to 100x100..works prefectly. So now I'll have my little mermaid with me all the time.

So... next step is to get the smiley faces back!

I've never used a photo for my avatar but decided to experiment with that.

Hmmm, I think I'll make it a bit smaller.

Oops! That's too small - I'll try again.

Mine don't work. How do you get them to work again?

Muggo - here's how I did it:

*Got to: New PM
*Click on: GO
*Then to: Profile
*Way over on the right hand side of your screen you will see "View Edit" Click
*Scroll down to Avatar: Click "Edit"
*Before you click on "Custom Avatar" be sure to resize your photo to 100x100
*Then Click the Dot "Updload Custom Avatar"
*Click on: Update Avatar
*Then be sure to hit "submit" to save it

I messed around with various sizes before I found that 100x100 worked perfectly - might be different on your prgram but try it out.

Nope....no smiley faces for me yet - none of them are working.

I did it just the way Nickilee described - except the 100x100 part. I had to set mine smaller than that, maybe the difference is due to different cameras???

I found the list several years ago, and I soon found it faster to type them in. With a little practice, you barely have to think about how to do them. Big Grin Just print them off and keep them nearby...won't be long & you'll know them, too.

It's like the button we used to use for PMing someone...doesn't work...the only way to use the emoticons is to type them in. Just another work-around. Wink

That would be great if some of the really big avatars were smaller. I have stinking slo-mo dial up and even with refreshing 3 or 4 times I can't get pics to load on some of the longer messages.

The really big avatars make it hard to find the message they're attached to. Sometimes you miss them altogether.

I followed Nicki's directions including clicking the submit button. When I went and checked my recent posts on the boards they showed my old avatar. So I am seeing if a new post will make it visible.

First try was too big. Hopefully this is a more appropriate size.
