I first want to say I am having so much fun with DD and SIL... they are SO cute...Married about 1 1/2 years!....waiting for GKs....

DD is baking goat cheese stuffed figs wrapped in prosciutto for a treat...we also have ice cream floats or Chunky Monkey Ben and Jerry's ice cream...
My grandkitties (all four) are wondering around wondering what I am doing...

I first pin the pattern and cut... you can use scissors or rotary cutter...a small one works best

I didn't forget...I don't have internet. DH thinks it's because I downloaded Skype to my laptop. I caught him out of his office and plopped down in his chair. He's already back and sighing so I'll have to catch up tomorrow.

Besides...doesn't look as if anyone has any snacks tonight and I don't have enough chocolate to share.

Adios!

The address lines are marked stitching lines
(the 3 in the middle)
DSIL is trying to help me but I'm still having a problem with pictures...so I will continue the instructions and add pics later or tomorrow...

If you have a triple stitch it works great for the address lines if not just sew over them a couple or three times...
next you will take your felt squares and fold them in half (short end to short end), then finger press them to make a fold line down the middle Pin the felt squares to the right side of your fabric you are using for the inside of the envelope....place them in the middle of the square marked on the template. Now sew down your finger pressed fold line...stitch well here a triple stitch is good for strength or normal stitches a few runs back and forth should to it too.

Next pin your two envelope pieces together right sides facing and stitch around using a 1/4" seam using a neutral thread...don't forget to leave your turning opening.

When you are done with this fold the seam of the side that was left open to one side and press it well. This helps to make a nice edge after you have turned it.

After your enveloped is turned right side out poke out all of the corners gently. Using a chopstick or something pointy but not sharp ... of course Smile

Make sure the seam that was left open is folded inward, then press all the seams gently to make them nice and crisp for the top-stitching.

Top stitch around the whole envelope about 1/8" in from the edge using a neutral colored thread.

Fold the envelope along the fold lines starting with the two ends (or sides) that are the same shape next fold the large square or bottom flap (marked on template) then last the top flap or pointy one.

Press along the folds to make creases. then press the front of your envelope gently to make it nice...being careful not to let the felt inside get too hot, or it may melt slightly or go crinkly...

Then sew on some snaps or velcro to keep the top flap down

If you used a water erasable pen, wipe off your marking with a wet cloth.

There now it is done...

These are so cute... when we fix our problem I will post pictures ...DSIL was up at 4:30 a.m. for work so...tomorrow...
Thanks for your patience ladies.
Any questions?

Thanks for the class, will look forward to the pictures tomorrow also.

I had a problem getting the template. When I did print it the side you said should be 3 7/8" was only about an inch. Would you be able to post again or e-mail it?

Sorry, I had company earlier.
I can't do this without pics so I've written down the instructions but will try one when the pics are posted. Without them, I always manage to mess up somehow.
Thanks for the class. Cute idea.

So sorry I had to leave last night. My computer has been acting up and I have been complaining to DH. He had time last night to look at it so I needed to let him when he had the time. I think it is fixed now He had to de activate some stuff and re install something. I'll check later today for the pattern and pictures. Got to get ready for his retirement secret party today. Pat

Sorry I couldn't get in there except to say that my laptop can't pickup the wireless connection (because IMHO the router is shot) and had to steal time on DHs computer. He needs to re-initialize the router...but doesn't want me to do it since I "messed" up my laptop. eyeroll

Needless to say.
These are going to be cute.

I'm sorry I missed the party last night. Something is wrong with our little dachshund & we were dealing with that last night. I generally NEVER miss a Friday party even if I'm just there to look on. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the finished needlebooks soon. Thanks luvthosequilts for teaching the class. These little P.J. parties have taught me TONS since we'v been having them.
