I saw this at the quilt show during the retreat and would like to know the name of the block so I could make one. I saw one before and was told it was offered in a 2008 BH&G quilt magazine(don't know which one) but I can't find anything like it trying to do a search.

Savedsinner, do you happen to know who made the quilt and could ask them if they got it from a kit or magazine so I can try to find it?

Without the needle work the blocks look to me like "Star Flower" or Golden Glow". You can see a picture here. Or were you looking for a name for the blocks with the needlework included?

Looking at the center top block and then the center one below it, it looks like the basic block shapes are the center points are the tops of the star formed by 8 diamond shapes together with a circle covering the bottom halves of the diamonds. The the outer ring is formed by squares or two triangles sewn on the long edge of the triangles to form a square.

I found a site selling the pattern. Google Cindy Blackberg Mountain Blossom in case this link doesn't work for you.

This was a pattern from a quilt magazine 2 or 3 years ago.I made this quilt and it is beautiful. If I can find the magazine I'll let you know which one it was and if I can find the quilt I will post a picture.

The magazine is American Patchwork and Quilting, April 2008. I don't have it, just saw the info in the link from one of the previous posts. Smile

Here's the pattern from APQ (All People Quilt). They share patterns from other magazines. As they frequently do, they created a smaller and different colored pattern.

crazyboutquilts if you had just clicked to the next page you'd have beaten me to the punch. lollll

Becky and Bozie you are both right. The pattern is from Apr 2008.

It seems the block, minus the borders, is 10".

If you go to the link Paus posted, be sure to read it well. There is a place to download the directions. you might need to "join" the site, but it is free. The directions are a 5 page pdf. some pages have very little on them.

Oh, you girls are fabulous! That is exactly it and paus4qlts for finding the pattern I can download. I am so excited, I don't want to go into work today, I would rather play with the blocks.

I've got my download so now I can start designing my wall hanging.

Thanks again, you made my day!

We will be waiting to see how it goes, even if only a block at a time.

I downloaded the pattern too. The embroidery swirls will be great to work into other ideas, too.
