I'm using wisper thread for the first time. I don't have a bunka brush. I am wondering if I can use masking tape to raise the nap. Have any of you tried this?

I have never heard of this thread before. Does it talk softly to you as you stitch???

All kidding aside, I will go and see what I can learn about this and see if I can help. I am not sure masking tape is a good idea..... Just a sec. Be right back!!

Here is something I found: 'Use a laying tool or a large tapestry needle to control the floss as you stitch. Completing each cross stitch as you go will also make it easier to stitch with Whisper floss.'

That does not really answer your question though...

*cut shorter lengths of thread, because it ravels easily;
*Use a needle with a bigger eye, it will spoil less the thread;
*Move the eye of the needle frequently along the length of the thread, in order not to damage too much a specific point;
*When the thread becomes too much thin and less fluffy, end the thread a begin a new one.

Still does not answer the how to fluff it up question...

Here!!! I found something that will answer your question!!! (and now I am going to have to find this thread!!)

"Pretty much the same as you would standard floss. Use a #26 needle, or larger (#24), and do the Wisper areas after the other (surrounding/nearby) cross stitches and blending filaments/braid, but before the beading. When you have finished all the stitching, fluff it up using a small brush - a Bunka or nap brush is recommended, but a baby's toothbrush (new!) works just great.

Most of the charts I've used it for say to use 2 strands or 1 strand plus a strand of floss. I only ever use 1 strand, because it can tend to matt."
