what is the best way to make my own fabric labels?
For the back of a quilt? Or those labels you put in things saying, "Sewn by..."?
For quilts, I like to use Word to print labels onto printer fabric. I then edge the labels with scraps from the quilt. I fold the edges down, mitering the corners for a nice square corner. Then I sew them down by hand to the back of the quilt.
yes, for the back of the quilt. my 92 year old aunt would like me to make some for her. something that says "Handmade by Angela".
Do you have access to an embroidery machine? If so, you can keep it simple and fill a hoop with spaced apart "Handmade by Angela for:" with a stitched line to pigma pen write the name as well as another line for the date. Then cut apart and she can stitch it on the item, trimmed with fabrics or not as she chooses.
I like to draw mine on muslin then appliqué on the back of the quilt
