Otay, I see using fusible web to put the two fabrics together before sewing to keep the edge fraying down. OK, so I'm a bit of a neatnik.

Also, what about using some kind of interfacing, light or Timtex to give it body.

And lastly, I'd decide on the shape I wanted but would cut out a square of fabric, sew my shape and then cut out it out. Larger pieces of fabric make it easier to handle when sewing. And easier to handle when you use pinking shears to cut the shape, hmmmm?

I'm a spoilsport, I know it.

These would make neat gift tags, too, don't cha think?

i don't know about a swap for these. they are cute but not everyone has a grommet tool to make a hole.

I've done that with Timtex & fused fabrics, for key chains and luggage tags. **I satin stitched the edges to stabilize them.

You can get around the hole by sewing in a piece of ribbon or twill tape at the edge. Then the chain could slip thru that. The grommets need a jump ring, as shown, for the chain.


Edit -- **Satin stitching around the edges is like what you'd do for those Timtex bowls. Let the needle swing off the right edge, and make 2 passes around to build up the stitching til it's smooth & covers everything.

Good one. Thank you, Starry. I was planning on making key chains for Xmas and I like this idea better than the one I had saved.

they are cute, but i don't know if i love them enough to host a swap. it is a novelty and i think i would only want one or probably after going to the trouble of making one, i would only want to do one! probably would be great for those that make "inchies".

I'm not sure I like the ragged edges on these. Maybe give it some interfacing and stitch around the edges twice. That would clean it up a bit I think>
