Janome's...I was shocked to see these on their site.

WOW!!! I would SO love a small Janome for classes and when i take "Belle" in for cleaning. How are the prices compared to what I'd pay at my dealer? anyone know

I paid $329.00 for my Janome Magnolia 7330 at a quilt shop & Jo-Ann's has it on sale for $399.00 They are saying it's regular $599.00 but I don't believe that. My sewing machine repair man sells Janome's also & he sells the 7330 for $339.00.

Keep in mind the service/warranty issue though. If they have a service department, that's fine, but if you have to go to another dealer you'll run into the issue.

Nicki...I'm with you,,,I feel their prices are higher than when originally sold by our finer Dealers...but maybe there is hope they will carry some of the special feet at better prices...Nah...they will be higher too and no coupons on machines or feet...I'm disappointed I guess ...

sounds like Joann's is doing what walmart does. Getting some "new" models for them. I notice they don't have any TOL models. I got my 7330 from a dealer on sale for $230.00. It is a great little machine. I bought it for a back up but found it actualy goes over the bumps and humps better than my 11000 and I don't have to fiddle with that hump jumper.

Isn't the 6500 a mid-model? I was surprised to see it listed as the same price as I saw at a dealer last fall.

My nearest JoAnn's in the big city of Portland Maine carries only Husqvarna Vikings.

I saw that today, too. But they most assuredly elevate their "regular price" astronomically, then sell them for about what you pay anywhere "on sale". I got Jeremy a cheap Brother machine last year and paid something like $120 or $130 for it. Joann's site says it's originally $400, on sale for $130 or something. Ridiculous.

Although I would love a local Janome dealer!

Jo-Ann says 599 regular price, 399 sale. The exact same prices are listed on Amazon, Fabric.com, Sewing Machines Plus..........

There are more with the same selling price but no msrp mentioned including a bunch on eBay.

Got to say that their model that is only $149. On the JA's link sure looks a lot like my Janome Sewist 509 that I love, love ,love and that they don't make any more! If I needed another Janome work horse with perfect tensions, I'd sure consider it! I have 2 of the Sewist 509s, bought one for each of 3 daughters and had 2 other friends get them on my recommendation- that's 7 of them in all with wonderful results over the past 6 years!

How long ago did they quit making that Sewist 509? Any chance that model might still be available at some dealers or sellers?

Wildcatmom- sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Been up to my elbows in new grand baby sewing and cooking! I bought my Sewist 509 s about 4- 6 years ago and by 2009, the closest I saw was a Sewist 520. Looking at the ones for $149. sale price at JAs, it looks extremely similar to my Sewists! We have Janome dealers here in Columbus, but I bought mine from a small quilt shop about an hour and a half away from here. I have purchased 1/4" foot and others for them- they are the SAME feet as my Janome 6500 takes because they snap on exactly the same way!

After 6 years of me, my GDs, several other inexperienced sewers using them, none have ever needed a tune- up, etc. I have taken my 6500 in to be cleaned and it was not a problem that I hadn't bought my machine from them! I just checked for an "authorized" Janome repair person who would know how my machine works and could get parts if needed! All these years- haven't needed any! My Pfaff sure has though.

I have not been to Joanns recently but am wondering if anyone has actually seen these machines in their stores???

On another note...If anyone is considering selling their Janome 6500(maybe trading up to the 8900)...I'm seriously thinking I want to buy another one. My friend comes over to sew with me and it is too much for her to bring her 6500 so I think I need to get another one so we can both so at the same time without such a hassle...

BTW, the new Joanns in our area doesn't seem to have the Janome machines in the store either.

Well shoot...I was in Joanns earlier today - when I was in the car I remembered to check out the machines....once I got in there it went right out of my head....they moved EVERYTHING around. The fabric that used to be in the back is now in the front - the cutting counter is up there too. They actually did make it more user friendsly BUT now I don't automatically know where I need to go for x y or z. I have to think!! It looks like some of the nicer fabrics have been drastically reduced - needed a wide backing and there wasn't a bolt to be had. So sad. But I did get the photo sheets I went in for plus they let me use a 50% coupon that doesn't kick in until Sunday Computer took it so we were good.

I have aJanome and my sewing machine guy told me today they are getting ready to come out with some new stuff. Exciting!

Any Joanns that has a Husqvarna Viking Gallery will not be selling these machines. If they have an HV Gallery, they gallery sells HV's and Singers only. Joann's is not allowed to sell other machines in those stores. ( I know, I work for one of the HV Gallery's) Joann's may, however, sell whatever they wish online. However....there is no warranty only the mfg warranty...and no service available for them. Can't tell you how many people come in with ones they have purchased on line, for an inexpensive price, and need service...OR classes on how to use them. Neither are available. So....although the price may seem good....check out the rest of what's available with them. Might not be such a good deal afterall..

Omma- good to hear why JAs may only have Janomes on-line in some areas. However, I have never had a problem checking the phone book (boy, does that ever date me! ) or google-ing my area for sewing machine repair and there are usually a number of them. I check to see if they are authorized Janome repair and have never been asked where I bought my machine.

IMO- Janome has always been a good strong machine that stands up to a lot of use & abuse. Their attachments are reasonably priced compared to other brands and are interchangeable within their models!
