So I FINALLY started sewing and thankfully, I'm only making four blocks at a time - I leaned this the HARD way.
I just hate this - you carefully line up all your blocks, carefully put the next row/segment in a pile and then proceed to sew them all to the wrong side.
And today, a banner day to be sure, I then proceed to pick them out and re-stitch them to the wrong side again. sigh.
I hit the chocolate stash for three kisses. I deserved them.
So I set the blocks aside and will start again tomorrow.
I was making a ribbon border for the DGGSs quilts and was merrily going along sewing all the corner pieces to the rectangles. I needed one half of the connector blocks to go one way and one half to go the other. Seventy rectangles later, I was making like a frog on one half of them.
ha, ha, ha. You should have seen me start my recent rag quilt. i picked up all the top squares and sewed them into a row. seams to the back. like usual. but it wasn't usual, it was a rag quilt and i was to quilt each square/blk as I went along, rip, rip, rip.
Katiemedarlin...THAT is one of the reasons it takes me forEVER to finish things!...I do it over and over and over....and...over...and.....

I'm impressed with your chocolate will-power. I've finally had to take the chocolate out of my sewing room.....I was eating WAY too much of it....no limiting for me....here a piece, there a piece, and on it went....
I'm also impressed you did all the unsewing....I HATE unsewing more than 4". I've been know to toss it and start over the next day.

I managed to finish piecing those blocks and now there are only 12 more to go.
Chocolate isn't too big of a problem for me so don't be too impressed. There's no caramel in my sewing room for a very good reason - no self control. I don't like ripping out but fabric is so expensive I just hate to waste it.
.... now I don't mean to be preachy, but when you make that mistake the first time ..go for the chocolate right then, don't mess around .,. just get some comfy going, no sense waiting til you are frstrated - you could run out of chocolate THEN what kind of mistakes are you gonna make???
I cannot change 'things', but I can change how I feel about them. Me.
I've done that, especially when I press the seam to start the second stage of sewing! For large projects, I clip a piece of each fabric when sewing sets and lay that in front of my machine in the position I need them laid, my sewing stack is off to the side that I pull from there. I will lay a pin on the side I need to sew if it's three colors, does that make sense? Almost like a mini visual pattern, just a scrap no larger than the ones you use when starting and stopping sewing.
I have also used colored pencils to draw the squares, on a sticky note with how many sets I need sewn; attach to machine to use as a visual referral.

See I'm in very good company here. Been there - done that. What's worse is you don't see it even pressing - so you have a bunch of blocks together (or even the top) and then see the problem...

Okay, I didn't want to mention this, well frankly, because it makes me appear even more stupid. But the pattern I'm working on is a bit complicated so RIGHT NEXT TO MY MACHINE is a printout of the block with the sections numbered for ease of assembly. Apparently, that didn't work for me very well.
In my defense, it's sort of a log cabin block and there are 63 pieces in it, so I feel that it's easy to get confused. But I worked on it again last night and I think I figured out a small trick that will keep my on track in the future. I only need to make 12 more of these blocks and then there are two others that are significantly smaller and easier to piece. Thank goodness.
I was so impressed with SewHappy's Pineapple block technique I made a table runner...showed at Guild(they loved it) and agreed to show them how to make it tomorrow night at our meeting....Cut all my pieces and parts from a coordinated FQ bunch 1 FQ for each round....then I came down with Strep Throat & Bronchitis..put it asidewhile I recovered and started to make the samples last night (sigh) WHaa @%#@ I cut the last rounds 6 1/4 instead of 6 3/4...no more fabric ....I then cut a new fabric(not my fav)and proceeded to sew with a 1/2 inch seam instead of a 1/4 inch....Maybe I need more recovery time....Rippit out(idiot I think)phone rang and I did again....RIPPIT!!!!
I sure hope I can find a new fabric tonight...Sew we all screw up,over and over and over AGAIN sometimes...
