Thread 1 http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5894011632/m/5521072673/p/1

August means it's time for another Lady block! The block is:

Sarah's Choice

My color selection for this block was:
Color 1- Dark (mine is blue)
Color 2- Med. Dark (green in my block)
Color 3- Light (white for mine)

Any more blocks completed?

I finally got my block done. It's a pretty block but it wasn't very user friendly. My HSTs just weren't getting along with me this week. I'm glad it's done!

Krisin, my block is not like yours? I have the points of the outside triangles pointing toward the center. Your choice of fabric and colors is very nice.
Anyone else have the points the other way?

Yeah, I played around with it and changed it. Couldn't decide whether or not I liked it so I left it. I'll have to make more than 12 blocks to fit my bed anyways, so it's kind of fun to change 'em up a bit. Still don't know if I like it.

Q_nanny, there's no such thing as doing it wrong - it's called doing a variation. Wink

I like Kristins aunts variation with the sq in a sq look, and I like your colors and fabrics in the trad(itional) mode.

LOL, I have to "think outside the box" more often. I am new to the BOM and thought we were to do as the pattern shows.
Well duh!! I learn things here all the time. Big Grin

Quiltnanny, this is my first BOM too and I thought the same way you did. But have seen other blocks changed and played with. It really gives you a good idea of all the different things that can be done. Like they say, this board is the best place to learn stuff. And it doesn't even have to always be technical stuff.

Quiltnanny love your block.

Kristinsaunt, nice variation, there is a name for that block variation - but it would take me awhile to find it.

We make the block selection just to get you started and give you a variety to work with. Several people have changed the blocks over the few years I've been involved with the BOM - either cause they didn't like the selection or thought of something they liked the look of better. Always fun to see what's done whether following te block selected or changing it.

Keep showing those pictures.

I'm really enjoying everyone's take on these blocks- whether it's color choices or variations in the patterns, it's fun to see how everyone personalizes them.

Thanks ladies...I wasn't sure how well I'd like it, but I do like how it spreads out the blue, if that makes sense.

Very nice blocks!
I've changed up a couple of mine too. I figure it's my quilt, I can do what I want with it! Remember, there aren't really any quilt police. If it was a swap, it would be one thing, but these are just for you.

AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! My sewing machine is extending her stay at the spa. I don't know if she'll get back in time to make these by the end of August.

Maybe I shouldn't have chosen Christmas and winter fabrics. Maybe if I had picked sun and surf fabrics she would be willing to come home.

No, you're not the last one Kay-lin. Plus I'm busy this weekend so it may not get done until September.

I haven't started August's block either. I hope I can get it done before September's block is posted.

If it means I don't have to go back to work for another week, consider it sold! Big Grin

Don't fret if you're not ready for Sept. The quilt police are on vacation for the holiday weekend.
Oh, PS Angela- I would post early, but I think this crew would mutiny! Eek
