Tonight's the "unusual materials" challenge. Looks like they're scraping the bottom of the NYC idea barrel with a visit to a flower shop & a hardware store. What will the designers do with those things? Will we end up with a line of Tournament of Roses Parade floats on the runway? Tune in & see!
Hopefully they all got their sob stories out of their systems last week... a hardware store should be interesting. Didn't someone make a teeny bikini out of string & washers a few seasons back?
Ohhhhh yes..... It was Emilio who came up with that itsy bitsy teeny ween*e metal washer disaster bikini.
It will probably be 3 roses (better be cabbage roses) at appropriate places. Think I'll put on some BIG carboard eyebrows to watch...that seems to be the next thing? Oh I bet Patricia will do something really nifty with stuff from the hardware store... Blondie?...not so much... ***This message has been edited. I am struggling to watch each week - all the other seasons were great and I was glued to the set. I think it is the team approach. Please leave a comment on one of my blogs....go to http://shogunsworld.blogspot.com/ or http://rememberingmadison.blogspot.com/

WOW!! The winning team made some super duper garments! NONE of them looked like they were made from unconventional materials when they walked the runway! Bravo! www.pigtalesandquilts.com www.crazyquiltingsupplies.com Crazy Quilting is addictive so we just have to STITCH IT OUT LOUD!
ooh, can't wait for it to come on.
I immediately thought of Ven when they were told where they were going. It's always interesting to see what the designers come up with.
Yuk!!!!!!!!!! I did not like any Erma
Well, I thought Patricia's was a DUD! And Blondie's was pretty. There were a bunch in there I LOVED! That idea about doing Dior in the 50's was a superb idea! It did look cohesive. Right person went home....outer space... "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."

I enjoyed this weeks episode. Was glad to see they switched the teams up a little to even the playing field.
Heidi Klum was just on Kelly and Michael and they showed a clip of what I assume is next week's challenge. Male strippers! Looks hilarious! Susan
if next week's show is male stripers, they won't need much material, maybe the budget is running short! Thought the majority of last night's garments were good but a few were questionable. The right designer went home
I LOVED the show last night! For once... a stunning runway show and of unconventional materials to boot~! Switching up the teams was fun... although I was startled when blonde guy seemed to take all the credit for their theme when it was Stanley(? new team member) who appeared to be responsible for it. Loved Bette Midler on the judging panel. She just seemed like a ray of sunshine! And I thought her comments were really insightful. I understand why they sent that designer home, but I'm sad because I enjoyed him as a person and found his work very intriguing. Thought the pile on was a bit much on the other designer. LOVED that the winner was deemed to be so in need of help by her teammates and showed them in the end. Again, favorite episode of PR in a long while for me!

I was really surprised at the dresses last night. The idea to go old-school Chanel was brilliant. Soon as I heard it I knew they'd nail it in a way that wasn't over the top. You have to reign in these unusual material challenges or they can quickly get out of control. (Joe's "future of fashion" idea...) The other team definitely went off in the Fantasy Rose Parade direction, then tried to say it was cohesive because it represented different decades. Sew first, come up with the theme later? I thought for sure that Blondie would need about a week to weave string on his loom, but he managed to make enough "fabric" to cover the necessary parts of his model. I keep getting the feeling that as others mentally dance to a disco beat, Blondie has string quartet music running through his head. I'm waiting for him to move faster than a turtle some week. I, too, was surprised when he spoke up at the end. Not that he spoke up, but that he didn't give credit to the other guy for the theme. C'mon! I liked the dress that almost won -- the woven twine with the petals. I reacted to the softness created with such a scratchy material. (Poor models that had to wear some of this scratchy or pokey stuff!) But the craftsmanship, good as it was, wasn't quite as innovative as the dress with the trapped leaves. Even though she had design help, it was innovative. Heidi loves that in a challenge like this. Note to future PR contestants: No sheet moss! I didn't get that "flowers don't speak to me" problem she was having. But sheet moss does? She ended up using flowers anyway. The losing look was the one I'd have picked to lose, too. It was just too strange. All he did was bend some screening & drape flowers on it. Bubbye. Sorry that we won't get a chance to see you work one of your kitty sweater designs into something this season! Not. What happened to the white bucket someone bought?? I don't think it was used, other than as a tote. Did you see the workroom when they all got done? DISASTER AREA! Wonder who had to rake all that up? I thought next week was the "To be continued..." twist, not male exotic dancers. Maybe the clip shown this morning was sometime later in the season? Maybe I dozed off last night?? Re the team aspect this time -- I'm having trouble watching the designers help each other out at the last minute. It used to be sink or swim, every man for himself. Now they're stepping in & helping each other. Not that they didn't do that before if they wanted to, but it's expected this time, which feels odd. Oh well! Still a good way to spend a Thursday evening. Did you hear someone say "Smoky smoky smoky eye" in the makeup room last night? I roared!

What happened to the hand made netting that the guy who went home's outfit? I got lost there. I loved the green petal dress...looked like Cinderella...and the the lovely Brazilian designer's dress could have been worn by Grace Kelly (well, without the see=trhough legs)that was SOOO beautiful. I even liked the moss dress...and it was the guy (I've got to learn these names!) who went home's idea to cut off 1/2 the flowers in the back and put them in the front! Yeah, I was bummmed too that Blondie didn't mention it was the other designer's idea to goDior in the 50's. BRILLIANT!!!!! Watched this one with a friend and her husband. His comments were fun to listen to. Ha! I even liked the Madonna contraption. And LOVED Bette Midler. They knew her silhoette! (sp). ooooooooo...wonder what happens to the "scraps" of those fabrics???? sold by the bag for impossible prices???? Thrown out!!!!?? "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."
The editing is sometimes so choppy that I miss "What happened to ___?" explanations myself. The high collar(s?) planned last night got scrapped, too, and they only touched on that very briefly. You blink, you miss. Scraps of fabric showed up in a later episode of the last All-Stars, I think. Didn't they offer the designers the chance to use their fabrics again? I would imagine that the leftover candy from the candy dress challenge and the flowers from last night's challenge would have to goooooo... That workroom floor looked like the compost bin blew up.

I liked the winning team's designs or almost all of them The other team one had that real puffy dress and I hated Daniel's dress with the big hip things. The rest of the dress was okay. I wondered what Patricia would do in this challenge since she likes to make leather things that relate to her heritage. her final dress was yucky. I too was sorry to see the loser go. I liked him-not his dress though. I wanted Ben to finally leave but I wanted his team to win so that nullified that. He made that loom and had very little of that woven thing on the final dress. I liked others better. I probably would have picked the dress of that girl that came over from the other team. I think Stanley was a good addition and I wish he would have gotten credit for the idea for his team.
Stanley! That's the one I was trying to think of. I loved his dress! "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."
Yeah -poor Joe from RI. Ha, DH's name. Anyhow, he's artsy but not practical with his designs. Patricia's was unwearable-yuck. I'll not remember names this early in the a.m. but I did like the dress that was poofy by the bridal designer. Had a great couture shape even though the materials were crafty of necessity. I couldn't appreciate the winner's dress with the leaves peeking through as it didn't read well through the t.v. screen. Hate peplums and that dress had them. I did like the dress by the gentleman that had it's own necklace; that was outstanding. Again, an interesting show! Always surprised by what they do with awkward materials.

I thought they really threw Amanda under the bus and that she didn't deserve it. Please leave a comment on one of my blogs....go to http://shogunsworld.blogspot.com/ or http://rememberingmadison.blogspot.com/

They really ganged up on her. She kept her cool pretty well, though. There could have been a lot of fireworks. Now she has to go back & work with the team that just raked her over the coals.
I had a thought about Joe's dress with the profusion of flowers dripping all over her and down. He's from New Orleans! The flowers look like that on the bannisters and ironworks...all fluffy and profusions of them draping all over the place....I think that's what he's used to seeing. This message has been edited. and this one... "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips." ![]()

I thought the right designer went home. He's a little "quirky" for team challenges. He never wants to be a team player. This year really hasn't impressed me too much. Not the designers but the challenges. I don't like it when one is two-faced like the girl with funky hair and all the tats picking on Patricia. And Patricia is nice to her. Can we just compete and not be catty? Pam

wait until they see the shows later!!! yikes!! "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."
