There is such a huge learning curve with sewing. Every single time I sit down at my machine, I learn something new. I always leave my mistakes intact, to help me remember the lesson!
Today's lesson:
When piecing fabrics that have a pattern with a clear "top" and "bottom" on it, be sure to check the orientation of the pattern before you sew!
I now have blocks with hearts facing every which way.

ROFL! LOL! Its a RR at the LQS! We're gonna make a bunch of HST and then practice our FMQ!
Funny you metioned this...I was looking at a pttern I've chosen for a quilt and the yardage...then happened to notice I will have to cut my strips differently and may not be able to strip piece because my fabric is directional, and I don't want my flamingos or palm trees to be upside down...

Better hearts in opposite directions than what I did. Somehow when I cut up some baby animal fabric for a baby quilt most of them had the tail end only showing. It was obviously a strong repeat and the heads ended up in the seams. Absurdly funny!
And the lessons go on, and on. Even the same ones. lollll
Made some fabric Christmas trees for the DGSs. Simple to cut out so I stacked my fabric for front and back together. Because they were cut in triangles I thought I'd go ahead and use the scraps to make a couple smaller trees and use up the fabric.
Oops, the scrap backing was....upside down, of course when I sewed them together. They hung on MY doors, no one else got one. lollll Ya can't tell from the front.
Your not alone. I am putting toghther a scrap top for QWL with diagonal strips. I got all the rows sewon on then saw that I had sewn the las 4 rows on the side instead of the bottom LOL. so I had to take them off but it was easy to just take them off and sew to the right end LOL. Not like I had to take each block off.
