Deadline for signing of for the 2013 Secret Sister Birthday Girl (SSBG) is Sunday, October 21st - midnight. I will soon be matching up the list of participatns for the 2013 Secret Sister Birthday Girl Swap. It is now time for us to start thinking about some suggestions to give our SSBG's to make their job easier when it comes time to put our prezzies together. Gotta love the copy/paste feature! Ok, I'm not going to answer every question, but I will try to hit the highlights.  I am allergic to strong scents and smoke. I used to love candles, but the scents got to me. My friend has battery powered candles and I loved the look without the smoke. I don't drink coffee, but love tea. Any tea. I embroider and love doing redwork or really any handwork. I don't do CQing. And don't need another hobby.  LOLWe put up trees.. this year I am going to put a small one in the kitchen with red ornaments and red cardinals on it. I love red cardinals. I also collect state thimbles and small turtles. I have both Santa's and snowmen for decorating. Gutterman thread is my favorite, with Connecting Threads thread a close second. I love King Tut for machine quilting. Love dark choc or Malou's toffee.  LOLI am sure anything my SS makes for me, I will love. My favorite colors are red/white, B/R/W, B&W. I also 'collect' batiks, CW fabrics, and anything autumn. Maybe a Holiday addition of a magazine. I read almost any kind of books? mysteries, romance. Favorite authors, Janette Oakes, Carolyn Hart Favorite quilting magazine, The Quilter What other hobbies do I have? In addition to quilting, I also make most of my clothes and my purses. I collect teacups and saucers, Santas, nutcrackers and couple of years, snowglobes Not a great cook or baker, but cook out of necessity. I do love to make Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner. I love sweets, my favorite is Lindor truffles. My favorite food is probably Italian food. I make appliqued and pieced quilt blocks. I machine quilt because of some minor nerve damage that makes it difficult to hold a needle for very long. My favorite season is autumn. Favorite holiday is Christmas. My Living room is yellow walls with blue, yellow and red accessories. Kitchen is yellow and blue, bedroom is beige walls. I have a new oriental quilt in browns, tans and teal which I will be using after Christmas. Bath is beige and blue. I don't garden. I do not have a green thumb. I have a Janome 6600P sewing machine. My favorite thread is Connecting Threads and Mettler cotton. My favorite colors are rosy pinks and reds, but I like almost any color except orange. I like rosy pink with soft greens combo. Also like blue and white combo. I do not crazy quilt. I like any red, pink, green or yellow fabric. Also love, love oriental fabric. Do not care for homespuns, cw. Haven't gotten into 30's fabric. I drink both coffee and tea. I like chocolate-raspberry coffee and fruit flavored tea. In the past couple of years, I have developed several food allergies, mostly to peanuts and shell fish. I have 1 cat, Rose. Favorite candle scent, vanilla I wear necklaces, earrings (pierced) and bracelets sometimes. Right handed. Most quilting shops in my area have closed. The closest one is an hour away. Hancock's is the only fabric store, except for Walmart, anywhere around. I do most of my fabric buying online. I like Fabric Depot, Fabric Shack, Shabby Fabrics and Fat Quarter Quilt Shop. I listen to country, 50's, gospel music. My holiday collections are pumpkins and scarecrows for Thanksgiving, Santas, Nutcrackers, snowmen and snowglobes for Christmas. If I were given a gift certificate, it would be for fabric. If I were given one $25.00 gift, it would be for fabric. Other than the above, I love ANYTHING homemade,tablerunners, small quilts, totes, purses, just anything. Well I guess I have to redo my Wish List. > Here we go again-- I love to read and wish I had more time for it Love Nicholas Sparks books. He can get me to laugh and cry with each book! I haven't found a quilting mag. I don't like yet!! I love to stitch. Anything with a needle. Cross Stitch is a favorite. I really don't collect anything special. Don't have room. I seem to be collecting Batiks though. I love to bake. I'm a baking fool during Christmas!! Who doesn't like sweets??!! Love chocolate-dk and milk! And I love MINTS I love fruit I have tried my hands at alot of different blocks. Mostly do the piecing ones. I have tried both hand and machine. Love hand quilting but because of limited time I machine quilt what I can and send the rest to a long arm quilter I know. My favorite season is summer since it is the shortest season we have here in ND! Favorite holiday is Christmas. I am a brown and blue person and have taupe as a wall color in most of my rooms so I can change color on a whim. The bedroom right now is lt. blue white and taupe. The kitchen hasn't told me yet what color it wants to be. We're going to be redoing it soon with new cabnets. The bathroom is taupe to but with a seashell theme. I do not garden. Hubby plants tomatoes! I own a Jamone 6600 and also own a feather wieght that I do not use. It was my MIL's Not into the thread thing. what ever works! Favorite colors? Blue and brown comes to mind! I would love to get into CQ but I have to wait until I have time to really spend on it. Right now I'm just to busy. love the lace and beads and shiny things! I do own some of Nicki's dyed lace and pull it out often to pet. Favorite fabrics would have to be batiks even though I have alot of them already. Love a good brown and yes-blue. I thought I had done this but it seems I must have dreamed it or perhaps deleted it. I am going to keep it short and sweet. I like brights and novelty prints suitable for Project Linus quilts. Also use a lot of bright tone on tones and/or blacks. Particular favorite is cat fabrics. I primarily piece blocks-traditional patterns. I can do more complicated ones but stick with easy stuff as time to sew can be limited. I can always use thread and my machine is not picky. Scents are not a favorite but I do share with my husband who likes scented candles. I have cats-all outside and spoiled rotten. I live in the country-dead end with cow pasture out back. Not much on decorating as are doing some remodeling now and still in middle of this adventure. I eat sweets (skittles, baby ruth, butterfinger & kit kats are favorites-but I have not met a candy I don't like-other than licorice) and primarily drink Diet Coke-not much on coffee or hot tea. I do cook and bake-use my grandmother's cut out cookie recipe and like unique cookie cutters-holidays or different shapes. THANKS! Karen | ||||
