I finally had time to read this full thread. Who did the how to make fabric look like batik at COF? I missed that altogether. Would that be a possibility sometime?

Mary, I can do the easy striped table runner if you think there's enough interest! Just give me a date so I can prepare.

Hi all,

Need to move this to the top.

NTQuilter will be doing the Jan 4 class - Why not use sharpies for quilt labels (or how to use sharpies to make your own fabric.

Also McPatches has offered to do the striped table runner class. Mary Ann, I have Oct 19 open for this year or you can go into the New Year to Jan 18.

Just to let you all know that I will be out of town next week so may not be online here during that time.

Thanks much ladies.

Mary

Hi again,

Thanks for the quick reply, McPatches. Will update the list on page 1.

So since we are scheduled into January. I think that is pretty good and we can take a little breather on scheduling.

Mary, can you change NT Quilter's class to read: Why not TO use sharpies for labels? That little addition of "to" changes the whole meaning.

Wow, what talented ladies and so willing to teach the classes. I watched them last year but never took part in any. The list looks wonderful and this year I plan on being there. I will be a little late. Hubby and I play cards every Friday night and don't get home until around 10:00 P.M. I hope this isn't to late to attend.

Sew, sew, and sew some more that's my motto!

I did find the thread, very cute project by the way. So, when class starts, one just signs into the thread and participates, like a good student should?

I want to attend every party this month!

Ali - there are some rules.
1. If homework is assigned before class begins, please have it completed before class.
2. Tall people are not allowed on the front row.
3. If you go AWOL to feed the family, please raise your hand to ask permission to leave.
4. You must bring food and/or drink to share...this is the most important rule of all!

...and problems...
1. The shorties who sit on the front row are generally trouble makers. The teacher must have sharp eyes to keep them in line.
2. Some people forget to bring enough chocolate for everyone to get a piece.
3. Do not provide teacher with anything alcoholic until after the class. (However, sometimes teacher brings her own and this can create a problem - if she does not share.)

This is short notice - I'm certain I've left some major points off the list. Big Grin

Hmmmm...what's that about shorties sitting on the front row being trouble makers? I thought pinecone & I did exceptionally well in the behavior department on Friday (or at least better than we normally do). Wink

I would LOVE to see a class on how to make quilt labels on our copy machines. Some day I am going to try it even if we don' have a P J Party on it.

Nicki, I love the label idea, Sue and I just saw an embroidery label maker by Anita Good designs and almost bought it. We have made our own labels with the embroidery machine and they turned out really nice (at least we think so). I would think that making labels on the computer and then printing them on fabric would be a very creative way to make one of a kind label. Now who knows how to do that?? Bet my husband could figure it out after he retires in Nov. Give him something to use his creative brain on. LOL

If you go to one of Jayardi's post you can find tutorials of some of the PJ Parties. Just go to the bottom of her post & click on "PJ Party Tutorials". I didn't see one for the stain glass block but you could give a shout out & I bet the teacher of the block will have info for you. Is this the one you are asking about?

Printing labels on the computer is not difficult. Open up a blank page on your computer. Choose a fancy font or not. Type what you want on the label. You can add pictures to the label if you like. When finished Print.... Make sure you use treated fabric. Use Bubble Jet treated fabric or purchased fabric specifically made for this purpose. Print and your done. Not really difficult at all. I don't think a class is needed. Lots of us have done this and if you have problems post and I'm sure you will get an answer.
If you use Bubble Jet treated fabric you must iron it to a piece of Butcher Paper. (That might not be the correct name, but it is paper waxed on one side.) This is so it can go through the printer. Hope this helps.

I like the selvage water bottle cover. At camp last week I showed how to make a pin cushion using them. One lady took the idea and made a little zipper bag.

Keep calm and carry on

Hi all,

Just want to move this up. Have been busy with Chr*stmas stuff - baking and decorating and not much sewing. This week will be our last party before the Chr*stmas break. And I am updating January. So I still have an opening on Jan. 18 for a class.

Hi all,

Now with the holidaze over, I need to get back on track here.

This is what we have listed for January so far.

JANUARY

Jan. 4 - Why not use to use Sharpies for your quilt labels by NT Quilter.

Jan. 11 - Fractured Quilt blocks by Quiltbea.

Jan. 18 - Hexagon coasters by Ky Sunshine

Jan.25 - Salvage water bottle cover by Sewlove2quilt.

This week will be the fractured quilt blocks by Quiltbea.

And I have Jan. 18 open. Kentucy Sunshine said she can do a pj party on hexagon coasters. So will see if she is open for that date.

And a big hand to all our past Friday nite hostesses who have done such a great job.

Happy New Year all.

Mary

PS - Just had a thought. Maybe it would be nice to do something valentine related. Maybe an easy craft idea??

Hi all,

There was some postings to an old thread for PJ parties in 2011-12. TTT...trying to find directions for wolfmeister on Pj Party:

Someone was looking for the Framed Placemats instructions done by Keyed UP last year. I will have to look and see if I have them on my laptop.

And Ice CReam was looking forward to the bobbin lace class done by Grishko last year in February. So that has been done and over with.

I am thinking ladies, that we will be finished with our classes at the end of this month. It has been a good session and only the ladies in the back of the class acted up. (You know who you are (haha).

So put on your thinking caps to see what we might have to schedule in the fall.

Mary

I just looked at the Faux Cathedral Windows tutorial that was posted and had to laugh: I tried to make an ornament like that before Christmas but I was winging it and it looked like crap.

So, maybe we could do some different ornaments? If everyone would teach one they know Between now & Christmas we could do a jillion!
