What I'd like to know is...do you turn yours (envelope style) or do you make and finish with binding?

Okey dokey. Since I've been kinda stuck in the house til this stomach bug goes away, I've tried two today..both ways so for my purposes, I'm going with the quick and easier.

Cheryl, mugrugs are made just like a quilted postcard only a bit bigger! There's NO 'quilt police'...they are 'YOUR' creation and you can make them any way you want! Just depends on how much time you want to put into each one! Big Grin

Just be sure to post pic's of the one's you make, k? Ya know we all love to see them!! Wink

I do both...and if I am appliqueing...I will also stitch it together wrong sides together batting on bottom, cut a slit in the top, to turn..then the applique covers the slit...Fun & Done Razz

Enjoy your project and as Lynne says it's your creation and no quilt police!

Another thing I do with my mug rugs, I quilt the top and bottom separately if they are reversible. One side I'll do by machine, usually, stitching the top and batting together and the other side is done by hand while not going through to the other side.

KS, I use the same method you do at times, also. I hate sewing the opening together. (I've also been know to use glue there.)

lol...paus...if I don't intend to applique...I press those seams together neatly, then stitch as close to the edge as I can all the way around by machine Razz

I generally put a binding on mine just like I would do for a large quilt. I sew it to the front, wrap it to the back & hand stitch it down. I quilt it a bit (generally stitch in the ditch), just to keep the layers together so that when it is washed it all stays smooth & the batting doesn't bunch up anywhere.
