the numbers on it are "621B" which i assume is the model number.

this number also: 57817c maybe the serial number.

anyways, when i look up singer 621B, the machine is not the same.
my friend is looking for a 1/4" foot for it and possibly a manual. It is running great,by the way!

I have not had this model but don't all singers had 'slant feet'? Try Clotilda's catalog, they carry all kind of sewing machine feet for a lot of machines.

While it was in the shop for a cleaning and what not, She bought the singer 1/4" with guide. recommended by the sew and vac shop, she got her machine back yesterday, and tried the foot this evening, and it doesn't reach the plate.

Here's the manual online...
http://www.singerco.com/upload...ad/118_356508008.pdf
In the manual, it looks like it takes a short shank, snap-on foot(feet).

BTW, my short shank Singer machines will use the same feet that my short shank(snap-on) Viking machines use. That may help with a foot that works. I have some....but I need to keep, for the machines I have.

Thanks for the info Karen. I did find a foot on line, with a guide. it sure looks weird. really a short foot. Because she is new to quilting, it is important to me, that we get her set up right. She already started a pattern and had been using my little Janome.

May, i have no idea what your talking about. I will see Alex and her machine today. It is wednesday! Woot! Woot! lol

Thanks for all the help and info ladies!

I'm glad you'll be checking it out in person. Having a little trouble understanding "and it doesn't reach the plate."
You'll be getting the newbie set up for success. Kim, she's lucky to have you for a mentor.
