Almost a year ago (2007) my History Club members surprised me with a Quilt which they made.
I had planned a Field Trip to our local Heritage Quilt Show to see some wonderful quilts, some of them over a 100 years old. What I did not know is that the History Club had spent several months making a history themed quilt for me. When I arrived at the Quilt Show I noticed that so many of the children were grouped up down at one end of the big room instead of looking around at the quilts. I didn't think too much of that until they asked me to come over and look at one specific quilt. I read the sign with the quilt and it said that the quilt was made by my History Club and that the quilt belonged to me. I was so surprised. They were so pleased with themselves, that I had no idea what they were up to. It is a lovely quilt made by some lovely friends. |

Thank you
the pictures were made by my friend Mary. I was not there, they made this quilt as a surprise. I saw it later for the first time at the Heritage Quilts Show when they surprised me with it. Isn't Mary a great photographer.!! |

And to have pictures to document it as well, what a gift. Glad to see even the little fella getting to quilt. I hope all of them continue to quilt.
I also saw a butterfly in it, I have one of those from I think 2 years ago the first butterfly block swap - I just got my blocks out to mess with a layout. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Cr8tve1, |

Thank you for the sweet comment. You will never guess what the History Club gave me for Christmas last year. They took the photos from the Flickr album and made one of those you publish books. It was an amazing gift. So not only do I have a wonderful quilt and a photo album, real and virtual but also a published hardcover book with full color photographs as a keepsake. I love it. So cool. I am just trying to live up to their esteem. |

Awwwwww, that is neat. I loved looking at the pictures. Gosh there's such a difference in ages too isn't there? Old and young alike.
Beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing, Margaret. |

Heavens, what a story from the pictures. LOVED the hands - old, young, thin, robust, just gorgeous. The pictures are as much a treasure as the quilt. Thanks for sharing.

You surely can feel the love. I am sure you will treasure it and the memories of working with all of the kids for the rest of your life.

You are welcome. The children and teens are History Club members and the adults are parents of the children. I think the youngest child to work on the quilt was 5 or 6 years old. |

What a fabulous gift! And the pictures are remarkable. It was great that someone thought to take them for you and posterity. Loved seeing all the "little" hands helping on the project.
stitchn It is said that hard work never killed anybody, but why push my luck. |
