Being me, and my moods lately, I remembered I have some patchwork fabrics in my stash. Well, the one I picked happened to have the squares on the diagonal so didn't have to worry about that. Did some diagonally stitching between the patchwork and I double stacked buttons for embellishments. Still have to pick up some cloth ribbon to add and it'll be done.
The backing fabric I chose looks like toys scattered amongst an Xmas tree. Now the tree is reversible. Did a little outline quilting around some of the toys and it looks good.
Hmmmmm buttons didn't show up so well but there are red and green buttons with white pearlized shirt buttons in the centers, sewn on with silver thread.
Oops, used some silver cording as the hanger at the top. This message has been edited. Last edited by: paus4quilts,
Yeppers, Patty, it is nice when you can get the fabric to do the work. That made this sooooo simple to do. Now if I can find a way to sew all the buttons on more easily. lolllll
I'll be glad when I get my camera and computer talking together again. Scanning just doesn't do the job well.
The tree is 18" so it will be a presence in their rooms. A good find, me thinks.
Mom made us a couple of cloth trees(pieced?) we love to use for bedroom decorating. I've barely started, so haven't seen them...yet. Paus, I just love the way you think..."outside the box".
Thank you, San. Thought of that, tried it and because the fabric is so busy I lost the ornaments. What I did find in my craft supplies scrounging was a couple of Mardi Gras necklaces that made perfect garlands so added those.
