How cute! So much nicer for a classroom than construction paper. I got the ghost and pumpkin sucker designs from GG Design Embroidery. They all stitch beautifully. I did 4-6 in one hooping.
Thanks Evelyn, but i dont have a machine to make them..would just cut them out and go from there!

Wow, It is so great to revisit this post & see all the great things that have been added. I love the idea of fabric made decorations for the holidays. Great mantle covering - great way to dress the mantle for the holiday. This thread has given me an idea to try to make something to dress up my mailbox for Halloween. Stay tuned, will post when I get it done.
PS...love the wall hangings. I have not tried intricate applique. How did you all make your lettering? Did you draw the letters freehand? Very impressed by all I have seen posted. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Miss Lensews2,

I made this octopus costume last year for GD#4. This year it will be worn by GREATGD#1.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Twostep,
That's very cute, Twostep. lollll Love the octopus arms. lollll
Len, you can get your letterings off your computer. Use your word program, type what you want and then just enlarge it to the size you need. Then print and trace. I'm able to print right onto the fusible backing, just have to remember to reverse the letters.

Be sure it's an inkjet printer and print on the paper side. I prefer to trace so I don't have to reverse the letters. I use my light box and turn the printed copy over. I've traced onto tissue paper so I can stitch words while i'm quilting. Subtle but fun.

Love those wall hangings & that little sweetie is the cutest little octopus! Like how those tentacles are attached to the sweater hem. Neat idea.
I went rumaging through my stash to see if I had anything halloween & look what I found. Do any of you make/ wear these kit type vests for Halloween?

.... I may have shown this as a stashbuster or showing off my free motion quilting ... one side is FALL. the other is Halloween ... I put the fall side out t oday - and then in closer to Halloween I will put that side out in memory of my Daughter who's Bday was 31st.. Well, that's my plan.
I cannot change 'things', but I can change how I feel about them. Me.
Sandie, your reversible wall hanging is so nice, I keep studying it. Great job on the quilting too.
I have a Halloween project in mind, I just needto get at it. How about you L.L.? The hardest part is getting started. The second hardest part is finishing.

But, I will find what I am looking for and these will be done BEFORE this Halloween comes.... they have already missed enough... they should have been done YEARS AGO!!! :O:
Thanks for asking Miss Lensews2!!

Danged, Evelyn, I had a newsletter with some Halloween pillows and deleted it before getting the link. Guess I got distracted. Anyway, was thinking of you and your bean bags at the time and how if you wanted to make some more the patterns would fit right in.
I would love to have a Halloween vest and have just never gotten around to making one.
Really fun projects on this thread!!!!

Last night, after my putting some things back into my sewing room, I happpened to glance down and guess what?! Of course!! I have found my patterns!!!! They hid I guess so I would work on a long waiting project - and I did, so win/win I guess, even if I was a bit frustrated that I could not find them yesterday morning!!
So, now to do the finishing on my little wall haningings.........

Lots of inspiration here! I've never decorated much for Halloween, just put out a few fake pumpkins with silk flower arrangements. I did make a vest several years ago a lot like the one Miss Lensews2 has, I still have it somewhere.

Evelyn, those patterns of the pumpkin table runners and such, are they a pattern or just out of you head? I would love to know where you got the ideas from. I think they are way to much fun and really make the space Halloweeny!!! I have a quilt top made - needs to be quilted...: but thought it would be fun to throw over the couch at this time of year!! Just things to create the 'mood' are fun!!
The other things I have are wall hangings..... And I am a pattern follower, not much into winging it.. Things just don't seem to go right when I do that!
Chris your witch face made me laugh!! Love it!!
And 55 - those pumpkins are GREAT!!! I love spider web fabrics!! I have just bought a couple patterns (for wall hangings...) and my problem there is, I do not have the bright happy Halloween fabrics to make them (yet!). So I am going through my stash and searching for things that will work and realized - I need to expand my view when shopping for things!!!
I am really enjoying this thread. Thanks for the inspiration!!

LOVE this thread!! So many fun projects to admire... Way to go everyone! I used to decorate for Halloween when the kids were little, now I'm inspired to dig out my boxes and spread some orange & black around the house. Managed to locate one Halloween WIP in my project bins - now I need to find the pattern.
It has been many, many years since I've 'done' Halloween, but I love the crafty things that come with it. So many talented crafts people, so many smiles to be gotten from their work. Just love the holiday.

Evelyn - what do you do with those pumpkin candy bowls? Do they just sit on a mantel? Do the kids take them t or t'g? They are sooo cute!

I gave the Jack O'Lantern bowls to friends and family. My craft group worked on making a bunch. At first I put a flameless candle in each for the fun effect. Mine sits on my entrance hall table with treats inside and everyone enjoys grabbing one as they come and go. A couple of friends have pass throughs to their kitchen and Jack sits on it filled with candy. Wish I could find an elf or Santa plastic head bowl for Christmas. This message has been edited. When I am out & about I'll have a look around for some plastic Santa or Elf heads for you Evelyn. The Christmas stuff is usually put out soon as Halloween is over. Some places have it out already.

I liked your runner more so because the pumpkins were going in different directions. So many of the patterns we see the pumpkins are all going in the same direction. I wonder if no one ever looks at those runners from the other side of the table. You know????
I like the stems you used also, instead of a simple block. And BTW, love your border fabric!!!!

Happy Erme - I just got the pattern for that off eBay! I have to make it for my DMIL! She has her 'Witchy' moments, but she really, she loves Halloween!!! I was motivated by yours!
I bought them at Walmart. They are real fakes. (sounds funny) I got the pattern from a magazine a couple of years ago. I knew that some today I would make it so I marked and saved the magazine.

Wow! Good to know. I've seen quite a few in the Halloween isle lately. I think I'll pick some up while I'm waiting for the pattern to arrive in the mail!
Happy Erme, do you remember the magazine that pattern for the witches heads came from??? I know I have seen it, but do not know if it was at a friends house or if it's in my collection?? I just know, I remember it, but yours makes me want to MAKE IT!!! Way, wat to cute!!!! And I love the eyelashes!!
Reminds me of this snowman pattern I have with on of the snowmen with a bandaid on his face 'cause his nose fell off, and it's got a 'x' bandaid covering the spot where the carrot should be - I loved it!! The lady who made it use real bandaids for the 'wound'!! Perfect!!! Your eyelashes rock this quilt - Fantastic job, it's just beautiful!! You could even call it bewitching!!

LL - It is Quiltmaker, Sept/Oct 2009. I should have downloaded it, but decided to buy the pattern off ebay. I'm waiting for this auction to end on Sunday so it can be mailed to me! I loved it too!
I bought this kit in Branson and decided I'd better put it together soon! I don't have the right color green, but I'll be finishing it on Monday when I can buy the right shade!
