I have some drapery fabric only a small piece that I wanted to use. But it is musty smelling. It is not washable, shall I toss it? I tried putting it in the dryer with a wet towel and fabric sheet also hung it out in the cool weather overnight.
If not, try crumpling up several sheets of newspaper and putting them in a carton with the drapes. It might help after a few days. This message has been edited. Last edited by: quiltbea,
Try washing it in cool water with vinegar. Let is soak for a few minutes, then rinse and roll up in a towel and squeeze water out. Air dry. If it doesn't come out, then you won't have lost anything.

Good ideas, I will try washing it as you said I have nothing to loose. No sun here this time of year lots of cool damp air and this has not helped hanging it on the porch. Thanks
I let the fabric soak in cold water and white vinegar. Still has a teeny tiny smell. I ironed it and it seems to be much better. I am working on some other fabric and will come back to this tomorrow for another sniff test. hey I may even through it in the washer with soap if it still is unacceptable to my nose.
