larger eye needle should help. also what foot are you using? a darning foot with a spring on it is recommended for FMQing. fast pedal speed, slower hand movement of quilt speed. good luck.
Change the needle and rethread your machine. If that doesn't work, perhaps the spool itself has a problem. Check to see how it flows through the machine: with the presser foot up pull thread through the needle--it should flow easy--if not you have to do something to make the flow through the machine easy. If this is the problem and you only have a small amount to go, try winding thread from the spool onto a bobbin. Use the extra bobbin on the top like you would a spool of thread.
With the presser foot up, also check to see that the bobbin thread flows easily. Sometimes poorly wound bobbins will not flow nicely and just by replacing the bobbin things will straighten out!
Good luck...it is frustrating when this happens.

Have you checked to see if the thread is getting caught on the spool itself? I have had thread get caught on the slit on the spool top and then it breaks at the needle because that is where the stress is. I've flipped the spool over so the slit is on the bottom and it has worked.
Also, check the throat plate and needle hole for any burrs caused from getting nicked, that could shred the thread too.
