Around Halloween there were a slew of owl patterns on the various pattern sites. Now there's a bunch of owl toys and pillow. How do you feel about applique? You can take any owl pattern and applique it to some kind of background, as KS said. I, also, go to the coloring pages lots of times for a pattern.
Here's the Yahoo search page as somewhere to start.
Here's an idea you might like. Last summer Quiltmaker magazine had a pattern called "Old Glory" (July/Aug '12) and they have a team of quilters (Scrap Squad) who do their own versions of a particular quilt. One of the quilters did an owl version that was very cute. http://www.quiltmaker.com/slid...x.html?slide_id=2026
Thank you Eveyone! l had really hoped to find a pieced block. l hadn't thought about doing an appliqued owl. l think l'll have to rethink that. Those owls are cute! l appreciate the help.

Rainbow: I did a little more searching around and found a pattern similar to the first one in the drawings but it was still an applique. I drew it up to be pieced. It's drawn as a 9" block but through the miracle of computers I can make it any size you want if you're interested.
ETA: And the wings don't need to be pieced, they can be foldys and attached in the seams. This message has been edited. Last edited by: paus4quilts,
Paus, how cute! I especially like the left middle row and the left bottom row. I keep seeing them with the wings made out of 3-dimensional prairie points.

The problem with trying to come up with a pieced owl for you is it takes so many pieces to make the personality of the owl. That face, you know??? And then if you do anything with the body, more pieces.
This is my latest and, hopefully, last attempt to find something you can piece. I've enjoyed the challenge but I have things I'm avoiding while I'm doing this. lolllll
The very last one is about as simple as I can get.
Oh, my goodness!!! Now, you all are really making it hard on me! l had in my mind to do a pieced owl then you started showing all the cute appliqued ones and now Paus is designing the cutest pieced owls for me.
So, how do l chose????
l think the fatcat pattern is my favorite appliqued pattern and it goes well with the fabric l've already bought for the backing.
And, Paus, l like the owl on the bottom left (of the last ones you made up) the best.
Can l use both on the same quilt?
Maggie, l would love, love, love the crocheted owl pattern, too!

Oh, that is tooo cute! But, the babies are due in March so l'll have to pass on the BOM.
My Grandma Bessie would have loved the fact that owls are the "in" thing now. She collected them for years. My step mom still does. Hmmmmmm....maybe.....???
