Hi all,

Having trouble with pics on my laptop, so changed computers.

You should have 4 co-orrdinating FQ, stacked up, alternating light with dark colors. They should all be trimmed to the same size.

OOPs, I see I didn't trim that one, but it turned out o.k. in the end.

I've been patiently waiting. But I've eaten all my chocolate and drank most of my wine. hic...

I'm going to monitor tonight because I can't decide which fabrics to use. Frown I think I'm going to black/white...white/black...with a focus color probably red. Then give them to my stepD for Christmas.

I'm here!! Only have fun sized Butterfinger candy bars (my favorite) and Coke left from my Subway supper.

I'm only watching tonight while I try to straighten my sewing room. Came home from camp and Sunday and haven't had the ambition to put stuff away yet. That's my project for tonight.

Keep calm and carry on

I didn't see this thread so I posted this on the original one:

I am here for fun and sewing... my four FQs are squared (rectangled off) and ready!

And, I am wearing my comfy house shoes that my mom, our hostess, says are "ugly shoes"!

Woo hoo! It's going to be a great night!

OK, I will tell you how to make your cuts and then wait for people to check in and catch up.

1. Measure down 3 inches from the top edge and make your first horizontal cut.

2. Make the second horizontal cut 2 inches below the first one.

3. Make the third horizontal cut 2 inches below the second cut.

4. Make the fourth horizontal 4 inches below the third cut.

5. The remaining bottom row should be approximately 5 inches wide.

Sherry, that is what Sue started to pick out, but we didn't have the right reds and I thought the black would make it too dark, So I have mine trimmed and ready to go. Got my snacks to share and if anyone wants a Pepsi I have plenty. Wisconsin Cheddar cheese and Flip Side crackers. They go really well together.

OK,

I guess the teacher should not be drinking wine.

But the rectangle should be like this picture that I just drew and took a pic of.

I see that some of you have your cuts made.

Now you will have to flip the layers in your stacks as follows:

Top row A - Do NOT move this Layer.

Second row B - Move first layer to the bottom of that stack.

Third row C - Move the first two layers to the bottomn of that stack.

Fourth row D - Move the bottom layer of the stack to the top.

Remaining row E - Do NOT move.

Note: You do not move the top and bottom rows so they will be the same on each of your 4 placemats.

Fleurr, if you drink enough wine they will move by themself.

OK, back to class now.

You will need to sew your pieces together, working on only one placemat at a time and repeat on all 4 placemats.

I thought I could chain piece when I did my first set and this didn't work. Too easy to get confused.

After you get them sewed, press all the seams to one direction and then we will do the vertical cuts.

Mary

So are we sewing the top fabric on each row together? Top fabric A to top fabric B, then A & B to C, then A & B & C to D & finally A, B, C & D sewn to E to make one placemat?
