Hi all, Having trouble with pics on my laptop, so changed computers. You should have 4 co-orrdinating FQ, stacked up, alternating light with dark colors. They should all be trimmed to the same size. ![]()
OOPs, I see I didn't trim that one, but it turned out o.k. in the end.
I'm here & I brought some popcorn. I did my homework & cut all my fabrics to the same size. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

I've been patiently waiting. But I've eaten all my chocolate and drank most of my wine. hic... I'm going to monitor tonight because I can't decide which fabrics to use. I'm here!! Only have fun sized Butterfinger candy bars (my favorite) and Coke left from my Subway supper. I'm only watching tonight while I try to straighten my sewing room. Came home from camp and Sunday and haven't had the ambition to put stuff away yet. That's my project for tonight. Keep calm and carry on Life is good!!! I didn't see this thread so I posted this on the original one: I am here for fun and sewing... my four FQs are squared (rectangled off) and ready! And, I am wearing my comfy house shoes that my mom, our hostess, says are "ugly shoes"! Woo hoo! It's going to be a great night!
Checking in for the party, may not be able to stay too long. DH has dinner plans, it's still early here.
OK, I will tell you how to make your cuts and then wait for people to check in and catch up. 1. Measure down 3 inches from the top edge and make your first horizontal cut. 2. Make the second horizontal cut 2 inches below the first one. 3. Make the third horizontal cut 2 inches below the second cut. 4. Make the fourth horizontal 4 inches below the third cut. 5. The remaining bottom row should be approximately 5 inches wide. ![]()

Sherry, that is what Sue started to pick out, but we didn't have the right reds and I thought the black would make it too dark, So I have mine trimmed and ready to go. Got my snacks to share and if anyone wants a Pepsi I have plenty. Wisconsin Cheddar cheese and Flip Side crackers. They go really well together.
ugly shoes are the best -- no one will steal them away from you! Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
I am here also. I was also on the wrong thread!
Gosh, I am a little tired from all that. I think I need a little glass of wine and maybe some chocolate for energy. Mary
I am here and I brought Lindt peanut butter and chocolate truffles. Help your selves. Home work done and ready to go.
Okay, remind me how to refresh the thread, please.
F5 is the refresh key Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

Teacher, my last row is a tad over 6". Do I leave it like that or cut it down to 5"? Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
Mary, are we cutting on the short side making the strips longer? 18 inches cutting so the strips are the 22 inches?
Thank you Nicki. | ||||
ok. I have my horizontal cuts done!
mine are done also | ||||
Should the teacher be drinking wine right now? Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
i cut the long way. and my last strip was wider also i cut it to 5. hope that was right???
OH, it's dinner time here but I'll be back! These are soooo pretty, FW! ivy
It's ok for the last strip to be wider than 5 inches. Mine is about 5 1/2!
PattyJ, I'll have some of the good Wisconsin cheese and crackers. I have red and orange plaid shoes that I where at camp when sewing. So comfy!! Keep calm and carry on Life is good!!! Patty (KD0ICU) In God We Trust http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j66/PattyannC/
Drinking wine is okay as long as she shares
I've got on powder blue fuzzy house slippers. Sherry Does this hat make my butt look big? www.keepyouinstitches.blogspot.com http://s193.photobucket.com/al...9/keepyouinstitches/ www.friendsofthedaingerfieldpu...library.blogspot.com

Take all the cheddar you want, I have lots and more in the frig. I'm barefooot
OK, I guess the teacher should not be drinking wine. But the rectangle should be like this picture that I just drew and took a pic of. 1. Measure down 3 inches from the top edge and make your first horizontal cut. 2. Make the second horizontal cut 2 inches below the first one. 3. Make the third horizontal cut 2 inches below the second cut. 4. Make the fourth horizontal 4 inches below the third cut. 5. The remaining bottom row should be approximately 5 inches wide.This message has been edited. Last edited by: fishingwidow,

I'm wearing black socks tonight & listening to Willie Nelson on Pandora Radio. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

you're doing fine teacher. I figured out my answer by adding and subtracting. Go figure.

I am here watching along. I am not going to sew tonight, work at 4am, but want to do these tomorrow.
Good, Patty J. | ||||
I use my math skills as a last resort. All cut and ready to go.

lol Patty, you and me! | |||
I see that some of you have your cuts made. Now you will have to flip the layers in your stacks as follows: Top row A - Do NOT move this Layer. Second row B - Move first layer to the bottom of that stack. Third row C - Move the first two layers to the bottomn of that stack. Fourth row D - Move the bottom layer of the stack to the top. Remaining row E - Do NOT move. Note: You do not move the top and bottom rows so they will be the same on each of your 4 placemats.This message has been edited. Last edited by: fishingwidow,

ok, I've got my pieces moved. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
I'm done also | ||||
Think I got it right. had to think about this a minute, I'd better Not drink any wine tonight.LOL thanks for the paper sheet.
I see all the pieces, are they moving?
I had to turn off Willie & concentrate on it too, Patty. I better keep the Pandora Radio off during this party! Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
Fleur, Looks like they might be shuffling a little.
ok - here are my rows with the layers rearranged.
Fleurr, if you drink enough wine they will move by themself. OK, back to class now. You will need to sew your pieces together, working on only one placemat at a time and repeat on all 4 placemats. I thought I could chain piece when I did my first set and this didn't work. Too easy to get confused. After you get them sewed, press all the seams to one direction and then we will do the vertical cuts. Mary

Angelina, I like your fabric choice. Gonna be pretty.This message has been edited. Last edited by: patty j, ![]()

angelinamor, those are pretty fabics. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.
Thanks, everyone! Gotta go upstairs to do my sewing - see you back in 15 min or so!
So are we sewing the top fabric on each row together? Top fabric A to top fabric B, then A & B to C, then A & B & C to D & finally A, B, C & D sewn to E to make one placemat?This message has been edited. Last edited by: nlk, Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

Nicki, have you got your seam ripper, I might need it. LOL
Yep, Nicki, that is how you do it.
