Sew & Tell is our weekly sharing thread. Tell us what you've finished, what you're working on. We're here to cheer you on!
As if rehabbing the new knee isn't enough fun, I had a crown wiggling, and the tooth was ick underneath, so I had it, a molar, extracted today. What a summer this is!
• • • Me, made some progress on my Scrap Challenge and almost finished the next Project Quilting Challenge.
I also received a package from AQS today. Simply Glowing (aka the Green Monster) has been accepted into the Des Moines Show this October. I wasn't going to apply because of the critiques received, but Dan talked me into it. Maybe this judge will like it.

Jayardi, good luck If the judges don't like it their is something wrong with them. Kim I like your panels I like the pops of purple among the greens. The only sewing I got done this week I finished up the March HGTV BOM block. I had my DD and her family here from Virgina for two weeks, and after they left I spent the rest of the week cleaning the camper after a weekend of camping. Then yesterday my DH and I cleaned out the fridge and then pulled it out from the wall and cleaned behind and under it. Now it is time to get back into the sewing cave and do some work.

Jayardi, that is just fantastic - congrats!!
I did a fast wall hanging for an area where I like to swap out seasonal quilts. I call it Oklahoma Summer although with the drought, this year, it could represent quite a few parts of the country! The photo is before I bound it but it IS bound, now. I had a heck of a time getting the whole thing in a picture and still get close enough to see details. This message has been edited. Almost finished with my boot quilt. The quilt is a gift for my "little" brother's 53 birthday! Had wanted to incorporate a picture of his dog - his shadow. They had to have her euthanized recently as she had cancer. It looked goofy as part of the quilt, so I made a pillow. Susan The flash from the camera produced glare on the picture - it isn't on the pillow!
Holly, I used the scraps left over from the shadow quilt i finished last month. "simple pleasures" is the line..i did add few of my own fabrics, from my stash. a couple greens..

Kim I love it too, I have always wanted to make a quilt with those colors and have purchased some to make a baby quilt and have never got to it, maybe if it snows a lot this winter.
I don't know if I had posted on here or not that I was one of the 1st place winner in the May FabShopHop and I won a prize worth $175, wellll it came this week and this is it, 5 yards of each fabric, not the colors I would have picked but I need to start to use different colors besides blues and burgandys and now I can't wait to match up some other fabric from this collection and start a quilt. This message has been edited. No photos yet --- still in camera and DH will have to help download and post. But, finished and delivered the two autograph quilt/wall hangings that I asked about on the board. One had all the siggies collected and star framed. The other was a 30 inch block ( Christmas Star block) that we signed afterwards. Used regular batting on the first and flannel on the second. Both patriotic. And pulled off the surprise delivery, too!
AND a mugrug for a BFF. She was with me at Good Will when I found a mug to go with a mugrug for a gift for the "mature" church women's Valentine party. I held mug #1 up and she said, "Oh I like that." So I got both mugs. Surprised her with it this week.
I completed a Crazy Quilt block yesterday and turned it into a pillow. I have donated it to a silent auction for a non-profit I support. Caiden's Hope caidenshope.org helps parents of babies and little ones that are in specialty hospitals away from home. There aren't always Rondald McDonald Houses or they can be full. They help with hotel rooms or gas cards,so the families can be with their little ones for extended stays at the hospital.
The CQ block was from the CQ Valentine Challenge that I didn't complete in time. I have titled it Love and Roses

I want to say I enjoy looking at everyone's work. I don't post on this thread very often and I don't always get to see all the pictures that get posted after a few days.
Kim I love the colors you used. Marion your pillow is beautiful. Penny I love your wall hanging. California is in a drought more often than not anymore. I live in a county that is hugely agricultural - mostly citrus, strawberries and avocados. The crops will be affected.

This is such a fun display of beautiful work! I'm not having as much fun. I just made arm covers and a headrest cover for my dh's leather chair. I was thrilled to find the perfect color and fabric. I think he'll like it better than replacing his chair. It's comfy and fits him. Worked on small gifts for a convention. Repetitive, boring sewing. Luckily some friends can do the finish work. DH is out of town and I want to do something fun tomorrow. Love watching the Olympics!

I just finished this little quilt for AAQI. It started as just a multi-color Lone Star. That looked kinda lonesome all by itself so I added the nine-patch stars in the same colors. Used opalescent metallic thread for the quilting to give it a bit of sparkle. It doesn't show up all that well in the picture.

How big is that 2" square quilt and Bozie, very striking and just to add to the difficulty factor, opalescent metallic thread! What brand works for you?
Jul 29, 2012, 06:26 PM
Bozie
Auntie Reba, for me Sulky brand, Sliver Metallic line works better than any other metallic thread I have tried. I tried it first in gold and was able to quilt an entire mini quilt (I know, not like quilting a real quilt although there just may be as many seam allowances to sew through)so bought a selection of colors including this opalescent one. This one seemed more troublesome (thread broke four times before I got the upper tension low enough) but that could be just because I didn't go back and read their suggestions before starting. You know - the old I have done this before - don't need any darn instructions........

I finished some baby bibs for my weekend farmers markets and worked on my double wedding ring quilt. Here are the bibs. No pics of the quilt yet.
Thanks Sandy! Wow! Sliver..aye yi yi..I used that once to outline cats in a border of a shadow quilt and man all the breakage..I take that back..It was the multi colored Sulky Metallic. I did have some Sliver but I wasn't successful with it.

K jstrouble,
I am very interested in the picture of the black cat.
My granddaughter has a birthday this month and likes cats. I would like to make a pillow for her. Will you give me a little more information about this cat picture?

Arlene, do you mean the cat laying on the arm of a chair? That is Rafia'a, my baby. I have some cat fabric, and could probably make a pillow, what size would you want? If you are on Facebook, visit my site and we can talk about it, or pm me. (I have not had success starting a pm lately.)
I love this thread too. I keep revisiting it to see all the new things added. All the great projects finished & posted.
I did some sewing. I made more baby burp cloths & I finished a project for a challenge I am in but I can't disclose the details till mid August.
I really like those bibs. Getting an idea to make some to match the burp cloths...
