I'm going to a big bead show Saturday in Santa Barbara, can't wait, eye candy. It's like walking into a Skittles Factory. Wish all you crazy quilts could go with me. We would have so much fun.

It is a good thing that there isn't any close to me or I would not have any money left to buy fabric!!
Crazy Quilting is addictive so we just have to STITCH IT OUT LOUD!

Have fun, take a shopping cart (!), and stock up! I think there's a show coming near me this spring. I love digging through the sale bins where everything's heaped together at rock-bottom price. It all looks good to me!
You'd go nuts in NYC. There's a "Bead District" within the Garment District, and at least a dozen bead stores all within a few blocks of each other. You can literally leave one & walk next door to the next one. The words "budget" and "self-control" go right out the window...

I have to resist the temptation to go up to Milwaukee every year to the big Bead Style show there. It's almost a week's worth of classes and lectures, and, of course, a HUGE sales floor. I need to save up for that one. Don't think I could go with less than $500 to spend. I'd probably go bonkers with all of the colors and styles. Ah, well, maybe next year.
well i went and i spent spent spent. seedbeads, beads to make some bracelets, rondells with rhinestones, i think i hit the $100 mark. Me BAD!!!! i also bought SS earring lever backs for my existing earrings. i have a lot of earrings with the fish hook and they keep falling out of my ears(ihave lost 2 earrings) so i bought leverbacks so they will stay put

I have a nice selection of beads. I thought that I would like to make some necklaces. But, I don't know how to put the clasps/findings on. Wish I could find out how to do that. I have so many nice things but I can't make them because I don't know what to do at the end.

i make them 2 ways, i use stretch nlyon string or i use metal clasp for bracelets, but with the metal clasp (lobster claw or toggle) you need needle nose pliers and crimp findings. i mostly use the stretch nylon and tie a good knot after i string beads. if you want to make necklaces, make them long enough to go over your head without a clasp. i do that alot. michael or joann's has the nylon and crimp findings. they also have the nice heavy thread to string the beads with instead of nylon. stretch nylon is mostly for bracelets.

Sounds like fun! We drove right past you & went to san Diego to spend the weekend with our DS & DIL at SD zoo.
I'm so jealous Patsy!! I'm glad you had such a great time!! After my DD's wedding June 7th I'm going to get back to quiltng and crazy quilting! I haven't got to do much the last 3 years. I miss it terribly. I have been sitting here making hexagons out of scraps so at least I'm doing something.
ahh pam i miss u too. and i wish you were in calif. too except not so sunny tomorrow. we're expecting rain for 2 or 3 days. i want summer. i'm done with the cold.
i haven't made a quilt in a few month, been doing pc's and mugrugs and doll clothes for American Doll. however i did start working on a cq block i started last year.
