Hi Everyone! I have been away from the boards for a while - busy with studies and family. I hope all is well for you here....I miss you. Last semester, I had tough classes that didn't allow me time to sew, but I have a project all ready to go now! It is sure fun to be back in my sewing room and here on the boards.....some of you I can picture saying things you type - ha! We have had some unfortunate family news. My middle child (age 9) was diagnosed with BRE - Benign Rolandic Epilepsy. All things condsidered, this was a great diagnosis as it could have been much, much worse. It is the "best" kind of epilepsy to have; she should outgrow it by 15/16. She's been having mild seizures (mostly in her sleep), and since there were a few daytime episodes too, we had to medicate her. This is very managable - we won't have to change her lifestyle too much really. I am a little nervous about summer activities. She will wear a bike helmet if she rides. Swimming makes me really freak out...I will have to be there with her at all times. If you have an experience with epilepsy, please feel free to PM or e-mail me. I would appreciate any advice. Don't want to end on a bad note....I am doing well, my kids are healthy and active and I am looking forward to jumping into a few things here on the board this summer. You all take care, Tonya

Interesting...I haven't been on board much either and here you are, Tonya! Plan to go to MNQ show this year ? I am not sure, if or when, DH is doing a lot of Dr appts currently.....He is a survivor after 9 yrs, still works a bit too. Sorry to hear about your DD. Sometimes I feel guilty for having 6 "perfect" children. What irritates me is when they do stupid things, LOL...Take care and I will keep you in T&P's. Joyce

Tonya, My GS gets seizures once in a while He went 364 days before his last seizure. One thing that helps him besides meds is no artifical sweetners of any kind. That was the hard part. the lucky help was when he was having so many seizures they got a dog. This dog was not a trained dog but the dog could tell when he was going to have a seizure and would let our DIL know. He was a G o d sent dog and when the seizures got farther apart the dog was called home. We will always miss the dog. I wish you good luck and will say some p's for your DD. Welcome back Handie Ann

Welcome back, Tonya, I thought of you a couple weeks ago when we drove close to your home area in a garage sale day! Glad most things are going well for you. My oldest daughter had some seizures when she was young. Her first was in third grade (right after receiving an A on her spelling test--always thought the timing was humorous). Her next was a week later so we took her in and she was put on phenobarb. That took care of any more most of the time. She ended up having a seizure about once a year for a few years. Then about 9th grade she was a camp (5 hours away) and seemed to have some clusters of in and out episodes. Since I was still at camp I was able to take her to the local hospital and they put on her something heavier. She wasn't on that long and I can't remember now what caused her to get off all the meds, other than no more seizures. She is now 35 with 4 kids of her own, not on any meds and doing well. G0d was really on top of her care. All episodes were in safe areas and where the right people for assistance were available. We never did have a diagnosis for her, they couldn't define what was happening but mentioned at the beginning years that many girls can have seizures for a span of years and grow out of it. I do hope that her time of meds and episodes is short lived. Madelyn

Tonya, so glad to see you back on the boards! I'm sorry about the diagnosis for your daughter, but as you said, it could have been far worse and I'm sure you and she will handle it just fine. Have a great summer. Maybe actually relax a bit!

Tonya, its so good to hear from you!! Sorry DD has had an unpleasant diagnosis, but let's continue to hope that she will, indeed, grow out of it. Meanwhile, take care of yourself and give her a hug for me, okay? www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
