Wonder how much trouble I can get into with stars? I will ponder this for a bit.

I am a newbie to the boards and the swap thing! I would like to join this swap to get me started. I am looking forward to it!! Has there already been any swaps for valentine's day, or anyone know of any out there?

jbeanie, welcome, first of all. You've come to a great place!!!!!

Looking for something Valentiney? Go to the thread for Valentine Post cards; sign ups are open until Friday.

Don't know how to make a post card? Lotsa Ladies will be glad to help you. Here's a place to start.

http://quilting.about.com/od/q.../fabric_postcard.htm

In a way, fabric post cards (pc) are one side of a mug rug. They are both made of fabrics, and generally quilted. The mug rugs have a fabric backing and often a binding. The pc has a backing of a sort but it is made so it can be mailed to someone.

Try one or both projects. They are a good way to test your creativity be it simple, elegant, funny or extravagant. And a good way to try new methods without making a quilt.

Have a good time here. Join in and ask questions if you have them.

kayla, I received my gorgeous mug rug today. Thank you so much! Do you have a picture of it to share or should I do it? I want everyone to see your lovely work. The applique stitches on the 6 pointed star are tiny, yikes! And the embossed metallicky (word?) on the backing and border fabric really pop.

Thank you so much. Yours should be arriving any day now.

Joan, so glad you like it. I usually do all my piecing and quilting by hand so I've had a lot of practice doing applique. I forgot to take a picture before I mailled it so if you could post one that would be great. Will let you know when I get yours I can't wait.

Kayla, I've been fighting with my computer for the last 30 minutes and it won't download the last four photos I took, including yours. I don't understand why it won't fire up and read my card. I've looked for my cable to see if I can download it straight from the camera but of course thats MIA. My last resort is to dust off the old PC and see if I can get it to read the card but quite frankly my patience has worn thin with all technology tonight. I will try tomorrow with a fresh brain. Sorry.
