This is a GREAT tutorial. I can't remember who posted it last year. However, the video has an error.

She shows the layers to sew together as:
lining layer, cuff, hanger, outside layer

It SHOULD be:
lining layer, hanger, cuff, then outside layer

I created a stocking by following her video instructions and the hanger is completely wrong because of this. I thought others may want to know.

She layers it the wrong way. Then sets that section aside. Then she pulls out the next step (already made) and it is in the correct order with that piece. I've reviewed this multiple times.

So, if anyone wants a great stocking tutorial - this one is awesome, just be careful on the order in that one step.

Thanks, Ali/Shogun

This is the one I made for the stocking swap, greens and golds, the lining is green polka dots that look like snow (to me anyway). The EPP shape is green with a purple center, I think these are the colors she said she likes Smile

This one was made using a method NOT this video.

This one was made using this video. I did it in red and gold, with some stitching like Nightmare Before Christmas style. Prototype for my DD. Still usable, even with error in the hanger. Somehow the pics don't look as cute as the real things...

I am having fun with the hangers now -- putting decorative stitches on them. Just experimenting.

Ali, I posted the link--it was made by ladies in my guild Smile. I think that I did a copy and paste on the SSSS thread with my written version of the stockings with the correct order for the pieces. We take the rectangle for the hanger and fold the raw edges to the center and then fold in half again and topstitch.

Enjoy!

Yes, I know how to make the hangers Smile just using decorative stitches instead of a plain stitch Smile

The video should have a correction posted. But otherwise great video! So glad it was made. I love this method. Can you repost the correct instructions here for people?

I am practicing construction. By next year's swap I will be a pro Smile
These are just the pieces, not sewn together yet.

Here are my written instructions for anyone that wants them. I'm going to try and post them on the youtube link too. I'm not the owner of that account, but may be able to post them as a comment.

 All seams are ¼ inch.
 Each kit will have four stocking-shaped pieces. Two pieces of lining fabric and two pieces of outside fabric. Each kit will also have one cuff that measures approximately 5” x 12 ½”. Finally there is one piece for the hanging loop that measures approximately 2” x 6”.
 Start by sewing the hanging loop--fold the edges to the center (lengthwise) and fold in half again lengthwise. Sew edges and the resulting piece should measure about ½” x 6”.
 Place lining pieces right sides together and sew down about 6” from the top--on the same side as the toe of the stocking. Repeat with the fabric for the outside of the stocking.
 Fold cuff in half (lengthwise) with right sides together. Sew across the short ends of the rectangle and turn right side out. The cuff should now measure about 2 ½” x 12 ½”.
 Mark the middle of the cuff along the raw edge by folding it in half.
 Open the lining halves and lay them on the table in front of you, right side up. Place the hanger (folded in half with raw edges up) one inch from either edge of lining. Lay the cuff piece on top of the lining and hanger, matching the center of the cuff to the seam in the lining (raw edges up). Finally, lay the outer stocking fabric, right side down, on top of the stack. Pin where the hanger was inserted to prevent it from shifting when you sew.
 Sew a seam all the way across the top of the stocking, lining, hanger and cuff piece.
 Open stocking up and fold in half, so that linings are right sides together and outside fabric is right sides together. Pin the corners of the cuff out of the way, so that they don’t get sewn into the seam.
 Starting at the bottom of the lining, sew all around the stocking. Leave about a 4” gap open at the bottom of the lining.
 Reach into the opening and pull the stocking right side out.
 Sew up the hole in the lining. This will not show, so don’t worry about sewing it up by hand--machine is fine.
 Stuff the lining into the stocking and remove the pins that you used to hold the cuff edges out of the way. Success, the stocking is complete!

Thanks! This is a great method and I think people will enjoy it.
For the cuff, I believe it is "wrong side up" if you are using a cuff with a name or some embroidery.
