My new sewing tool (I hope), to "press" a seam real fast without ironing. Bought at Lowe's, something like 45 cents (DH picked it up for me). Plastic handle + plastic roller. Will also work to make folds/creases in paper crafts. Bet it's going to come in handy for PP. Again, read about it somewhere (I forget where) and it was then a matter of trying to remember to pick one up while out & around. Finally had to put it on DH's list!

Anyone use a wallpaper seam roller in the sewing room? It seems (pun!) to work, at least on a test scrap.

I've got 2! A couple years ago, the seam roller was on a supply list for a paper piecing class I had signed up for. I really like the way it flattens the back on four-patches and pinwheel blocks.

As I recall, I posted a question asking which items on the supply list were essential. There were many things I didn't have already and I didn't want to bust my chops getting all the items, only to have them really unnecessary. Several members recommended the seam roller.

My guess is if you did a lot of paper piecing, you'd know about it, otherwise, you might not.
I doubt I'd know how handy they were, had I not signed up for this class.

What a clever idea. That sounds like something that would have come from the "Sew Many Ways" blog. She's the one that has Tool Time Tuesday's & had load of tips for things you can pick up in a hardware store.

I bought one years ago but it's wooden and a bit larger in the middle. meant for fabrics. If i hadn't already gotten it, i would have gladly gone to the hardware store for a wall paper roller. they work fine too.

I tore the garage apart, thinking we must have one somewhere, after papering about 30 years ago...and we never throw any tools out... Well, turned out it was easier to go buy a new one than try to find something so old in the garage. But I'll bet the one we had back then was wooden, or nicer. Anyway, 40-some cents for another one, no big deal! I think it will come in handy in my craft/sewing room. I have a bone paper folder or three, but this is nice because it rolls along zip-zip-zip.

I've had one for several years now,purchased it at a craft show with my curve master foot...love it...it is wooden and beveled...a wonderful tool when hand piecing, or wen you don't have the convience of electricity...

Ages ago someone mentioned using the seam roller for quick pressing at your machine. Went and got me one, well two actually (they came that way), and it still is beside my machine for quick presses.
