WOW!!! Where did you find that sale???!!! Our fabric here in Canada...the new fabric...is on average $20.00/meter. Sure that is 3 or 4 inch more...but...
So enjoy ladies it could be and will be worse....not for a long time I hope.
I will not be paying that much for any quilts I make for charity. That is just way too much for fabric. I really would be afraid to pay that much for a family quilt or one for myself.

Thank goodness for my stash/ I new I was doing the right thing by buying more than I could possibly use in this lifetime. I am glad I live close to the ragman.
A friend of my niece's asked me to make her some curtains for her house. I warned her the cost of the fabric alone was going to surprise her and she should consider ready made curtains. She didn't believe me until she went into the fabric store - she walked right out and found perfect ready made curtains. I won't be paying $15-16 a yard for quilting fabric - good thing I have a large stash!

LisaTX and I saw $13.95/yard fabric about 2 years ago. It wasn't a batik nor especially pretty (at least to us). I knew then I was going to be using a lot of stash. Thankfully there is enough there to make me happy for a long time. Of course, there are always new ones.........
I have also seen batiks at Wally World for $8-9 per yard. Not a huge selection, but if you're looking for inexpensive, try it. I know some of the stores don't have fabric any more or have it back yet, but some do. One of ours never lost its fabric department. Go figure, with 20 quilt shops in the Houston area while those of you out yonder don't have any. This message has been edited. Last edited by: needlecrazy,
"Never be afraid to try anything new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." Unknown.
These were cotton prints for $14.99 and some new batiks for $15.95. Our LQS new fabrics are between $12 - $14/yd. with jelly rolls and layer cakes $43 - $45. I'm thinking my small stash is going to have to suffice till there are some really good sales. Suppose this means that thread and batting will also increase.

I agree with Yikes! but....I remember when prices jumped to $9 - $10 per yard and everyone said - Who me? I'll never pay that! When you see that one fabric that you just gotta have...is price a consideration?
I guess we'll all be sharpening up our math skills. If we have to pay that much we'd better figure to the inch exactly how much we need.
I love my stash!
