Welcome to the Sunshine Quilters - our website is http://webpages.charter.net/cmladronka/
Our mission is to bring sunshine into the life of our receivers.

Each member is asked to make a block for the assigned host each month. The host then assembles and donates quilts to the children's charity of their choice. Some help by making more than one block for a host or by sending other supplies to the host.

To join, post on this thread your intention to join and send an email to Char77. Rosy is the dear lady who came up with this wonderful project, we are very thankful to her for this unselfish endeavor. Please be sure to put "Sunshine Quilter" in the subject line of the email. Someone will send you directions and information.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help. You can choose to host a month and donate to the charity of your choice as well as making blocks to send out to listed hosts.

Blocks are to be sent to the host members around the 1st of their month. If late, email the member with your intentions to send later. If you can't make a block that month, that's ok, sometimes life is too busy. Post here and perhaps someone can send extra blocks to the host that month.

The list of monthly hosts and their choice blocks (with links) is posted at the "Sunshine Quilter's website indicated above.

KC1930 - believe it or not - finally got those blocks made. Used the Go 4 3/8" triangle & 3" hst and made the flying goose part - 3 1/2 x 6 1/2" wow -- and there you are! How come as I get older, no longer employed elsewhere (since '96) I seem to have less free time to sew? Oh well, enjoy what & when I can. Happy stitching. Cindy - quiltedtractor/Mtfarmer

Cindy, I look foward to seeing them. I have a good friend with a LA who is looking for more practice pieces, so for a small fee and supplying the thread, she will quilt my charity quilts (at her own pace). Unfortunately, she had a eye injury almost a year ago and has boughts with it flaring up and cannot quilt. So, I figured I would at least post pictures of the latest three tops and once she quilts them, I will post those pictures also. Any remaining blocks will be going into the fall batch.

Thanks again to all of you who sent me blocks!

No matter how much I reduce the size, the boards are not allowing me to post. So, you can check out the three new tops at my Webshots album below.

Thanks, KC, for the photo link. I'm amazed at how different the blocks look when put together. Also nice to see how you use the scraps we send with the blocks.

Great job!

KC, the quilts are adorable!! and I always forget to send the small pieces with the blocks.. maybe next time I will. I hope the unpleasant project of cleaning a house will be done in next day or so, so I can get back to the fun stuff like sewing!

My six-year-old nephew saw the quilt tops while I was sewing on the binding on his quilt and he asked what those quilts were for. Once I explained about the children who are ill or need them for warmth, he was sad and told me I was a "good Meme for helping out the kids who didn't have a Meme to make them for them." I thanked him, glad that he appreciates his new quilt, but more so that he understands how a group of ladies get together to help out those less fortunate. My mother always volunteered and stressed to her children the need to be involved in charity work and our community.

I'm mailing August blocks today also. Guess I'd better get busy (don't know when) - there are the last blocks I have done for the year.
