    Ladies,

We have a new board member...Roolen. If you haven't seen her posts yet, she is from Russia.

She speaks no English...and uses a translator software to read and post her notes....and does a very good job of it.

She has shared her purses, dolls, and quilt pictures on various strings with us.

Anyway, I am sending her a Welcome to the Board type box of goodies in the next week or so...and if you'd like to include a card, please PM me for my address...and I'll be happy to include. If you already have the address, just let me know you're sending it and I'll wait on it.

Her work is worth searching the strings for...it is very nice.

    Kathy

Kathy, Marina said she likes fabric. Do you have any idea what kind of fabric she is most wanting or needing at the moment?

    Thanks,

    Susan

I asked her what color or type of fabric she would most like for me to send her...and she had no preference...I'll try and get the exact wording after translation. Back in a second.

Here it is: "You are too kind to me! I cannot be so impudent to order color of a fabric. I shall be glad to any color and I shall find of it application! "

Isn't that sweet! She seems like a lovely person, and I'm excited about becoming her penpal...

She seems to especially be fond of Fabric Post Cards...I'm not much into that...so will do a needle case for her instead. Along with some fabric, books, patterns, etc from my stash.

Thought others might want to include a simple "Welcome" card; and the box would be full of neat things for her to read (with translator help) and see. Hope everyone keeps the sentences short and simple to help her out. It is a job for me!, I tell you!

    Wink

Kathy if you are having difficulty in understanding or translating, how about using the free translating service of babelfish? It is so easy to use. http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt

I either type what I want to say on babelfish then copy and paste translation to a post. Or post and then copy and paste to babelfish, translate and then recopy to my post. It is easy peasy.

Thanks TX, I did go and copy that when you posted it the other day.

I wrote a simple note in Word...and then translated it into Russian. Then I took the translation and put in back into Fish to translate back to English...it did not come out the same. Kinda weird...and funny. So, not at all sure how great she's getting things from me...I'm trying to keep my notes simple, and my fingers crossed.

So far, we're on the same track of thought...

    Smile

I know what you mean Kathy. It is usually the colloquialisms that change things. Or give off different meanings in another language. Just like I just typed, "give off." No telling how that translates in another language....lol....

Okay,...I think I've answered all the PMs so far.

Thanks to everyone for your willingness to extend a Welcome to Marina. I'll wait a couple of weeks to give everyone time to complete their handmade things, and mail their cards/etc to me. I plan on mailing after Memorial Day...
