Fabulous tablecloth tip!
Have to share something with you...

Went to pull out my white tablecloth to dress up my Thanksgiving table today and what did I find??? I was so stained that I just could not use it - OMG! Where did all those stains come from?

No time to run to the store and buy a new one nor did I have any yardage of fabric that would work as a tablecloth and match my china BUT.... I had a brand new beautiful pale green shower curtain that I paid $45 for which was still in the wrapping. Since I no longer was going to use it in my upstairs bathroom (went blue and white) I hurried up and ironed it and thew it on the table. It actually looked very elegant as it had a nice sheen and tone on tone pattern to it.

Of course accidents happen - my nephew ended up spilling a glass of red wine right in the middle of dinner. My SIL was freaking out and all of a sudden said "OMG! Look at this - the wine is just beading up and not sinking into the fabric!" We wiped it up with paper towels and not a drop was left AND not a single stain! The shower curtin was water repellent!! My SILs and MIL were dying to know where I got such a fabulous tablecoth! LOL! You should of seen the look on their faces when I told them what it was... now they all are planning on going out and buying a tablecloth this week to use for the Christmas Holidays!

When it was time to clear the table off everyone pitched in mainly because they wanted to see if there were any other stains (gravy, cranberries etc) Nope - not a one - it still looked brand new and just like it did when I first laid it down on the table - best $45 investment I've made in a long time!Big Grin

Now that's clever! Did it have grommets? Sounds as if nobody noticed, it if did.

Nope - no grommet - just slight button hole stitches that no one saw. The size was perfect to fit a long rectangle table that seated 8 - I had it pushed up against another table that sat 4 so you never even saw the end as it was hanging over and hidden by the other table.

I'll bet something like that would make a good picnic tablecloth, too.

I always wash & keep any old plastic shower curtain liners. They make nice drop cloths for painting, or anywhere you need a sheet of plastic.

I love that it just beaded up. I put a plastic table cloth down then the "good" one over it. That way the spills don't go through the table where the leaves get put in.
