I'm involved in a small quilting group and we make donation quilts that go to Children's Hospital. Once in a while we do swaps and I've proposed that our next exchange be ABC blocks.

I Googled both ABC quilts and alphabet quilts but mostly found pictures of quilts with the actual letters on them.

I'd love to print a few pictures to show the gals as examples. I'm hoping that you guys can post a few show I can show the group.

Thanks!

I'm sure someone will be here soon with pictures - if not, do a search for ABC swaps here - I'll bet there are pictures there as well. The last couple of swaps I did with Sewlove2quilt didn't have letters on them - just the fabric that represented the letter.

That's exactly what I'm looking for...just fabric that represents the letter. I never thought to search our forum. That's a great idea!

I have a picture that I can post tomorrow--don't have access to it from my iPad. There should definitely be some pictures here on the forum, but it may take some searching. Hopefully people will pop in and post theirs for you.

Thanks! This is great! It will be nice to show pictures with different ways of setting the ABC blocks! We just look for fun ways to motivate people to make one more quilt for the hospital!

#4 alternated sashings colors....this 1 turned out a bit larger than the others...

I usually add fabric w/ ABC's on it for the corner blocks...

I made a couple for our local Q4K with just pictures representing the letters.

First this one - airplanes, balls, cars, etc. squares from a swap with alternate four patch blocks and cornerstones of assorted fabrics. Definitely not a work of art!

But it was well received and there was a request for a smaller one to use as a wall quilt in the area where kids and non custodial parents get to visit - something to look at, say something about......

So I made this one. I really wish I would have made something like the attic windows one sewlove2quilt showed. So much better!!!

I thought I had a couple more but can't seem to find the pic's right now!

When I quilt them, I cut letters out of freezer paper and iron on each sq and fm around the freezer paper letters. {ie-A on a sq, B on b sq etc} The quilting doesn't show up in these pic's but you can kinda see it in the tilted sq quilt...

I made two ABC quilts last week. They're almost identical with only a couple of squares changed. I also like to quilt the letter used in the middle of each block. I used the shadow effect as the settings.

I agree. I love the variety. I saw one done with circles with a blue background. Looked like portholes in a boat with waves and fish as quilting design.

I have these pictures

The smallest Cross in the corner is the one you put in the room.

I hope all our daily ups and downs are with needle and thread.

A friend loves to paperpiece so she used ABC fabrics to pp the letters of the alphabet. It would be a lot of work but would be awesome for a waiting room wallhanging.

Like the setting with A and Z in the borders instead of making 5x6 blocks.

And a close up of the quilting. Each block had that letter stenciled with erasable pen, then quilted on it. Still hard to see with our small resolution photos here.
