I'm working on the label for my fall quilt. I have my BJS sheet ready to go. I wish I were more talented with Photoshop and Word features. Do you use a particular program to make your labels?
Do you keep your labels a certain size? What method do you prefer to sew them on? |

I usually use Print Shop because that's what I have - just type the info I want to include and put a border around it. I'm sure whatever you have will make a great label. The label can be whatever size you want, mine usually end up about 4" x 6" but sometimes a little larger depending on how much info I include. When I remember to attach the label before binding, I put it in a corner so that two sides are under the binding. Then I turn under the other two edges and whip it down.

I have a printmaster program. It's primary use is to make greeting cards. But it has great graphics, borders, different fonts , so that 's why I use it. I have made some great, fun labels. Here's one.

I know how to insert a picture into Word, but I haven't figured out how to insert text ONTO a picture. I can get the text to the side, above it, below it, but not on the picture. I'll play with it some more tomorrow.
I may end up buying a program to do labels. It's so frustrating. I have Word 2007 and I believe it would work if I only knew how to use it, LOL. |

If your version of Word works the same as my older version, here's what you need to do. Click on the picture to select it. Click on Draw (on mine, that's on the lower tool bar), then select Text Wrapping, then Behind Text. Hope that works for you.

I use Printmaster too, or American Greetings or Hallmark Cds, depending on the type of graphics I want. American Greetings doesn't have the variety that Printmaster does, and the Hallmark program is kind of "cutesy".

I use an HP custom label kit software as well as Corel Paintshop Pro Photo program. I have the best of both worlds with both.

Make sure you are not on your picture, click on a blank part of the page and select Insert - Text box. type the words you want click on blank spot of page again and then click on the frame of the text box. and then made sure to click the outer frame and select Format Text Box, change it to no color for background and borders. (This will only have your text show up) Try that.
