Went to a small country quilt show held in conjunction with a farm festival yesterday. They had the cutest pin cushions filled with raw wool (wool that had just been cleaned & washed but not processed any farther). That way the lanolin from the wool is still in the fibers and will lubricate the pins when you put them in the cushion. Bought one for my SSBG there. Hope she likes it as I thought it was really neat... Chris

I have a wool farm 10 mins from me, she has her own sheep and not only makes raw wool but several different types too. She has a huge store on her farm you can see it online it's http://www.thefoldatmc.net/ - I am going back on Saturday and will get some raw wool what a great idea!

Chris...I made a few pincushions a couple years ago for the swap savedsinnr hosts, and stuffed them with the raw wool, loved them! We have friends in the country andwe often go visit their farm on long weekends. They run a bread and breakfast, and have a nice cattle farm and sheep farm, their neighbors have a winery...so needless to say visits are jolly...lol...but they gave me some scraps of wool they had after shearing the sheep, as I had mentioned I'd like to try making pincushions with the lambs wool. I brought it home and washed it and spread it out to dry...it is awesome to stuff in the pincushions so much better than polyfill,as the lanolin works wonders for the pins, and I found the pincushions to be a heavier weight? did you notice a difference in weight?

She had these pincushions in various things so it was really difficult to guess a weight. They were so cute I wanted them all and I'm not even a real fan of pincushions!
Just about anything small she had made up-cups, vases, jars, flowerpots, boxes, there was a neat metal basket (still kicking myself or not getting that one), ceramics, a cute cup with cats on it which I really wanted but didn't like the fabric on that one... Chris

Maybaby, what a wonderful birthday gift assortment of meaningful items. The box was packed, and I had planned to open them throughout the day, but, no way. It was just too enticing. I will make a long list; and do the picture later.
fabric and fabric; 7 large pieces of fabrics with dots (how cheery), and a coordinated yardage of green and floral.
---a set of 5 FQ reds that will be helpful, and motivational to complete a redwork top. Even wrapped in a red bag.
---a big, colorful spring green coated tote; with a huge frog and the statement "Live, Love, Laugh". Delightful.
---sewing supplies; always helpful with a wide/pink/120 inches long measuring tape, marking pencils, seam ripper, sewing maching needles which all are useful and needed.
---Beads! wow, what an assortment; floral in pink/purple/rose; long silver tubes, springlike green and pearl teardrop tags; silver 1/2 inch butterfly 3-D charms.
----papers which I appreciate; notepad, self-stick floral pads, and most personal, notecards of purple pansies created from photographs taken by your husband! So you are both creative!
---state of Tennessee remembrances: fridge magnet to decorate my fridge; a pop cooler with the state color and "T", and stick 'em notes that are always useful. I have visited Tennessee and loved it and appreciate the beauty. Spent some time in Gatlingburg. Will look up your area.
---and lastly, after all these items, is the cutest cheery bunny and carrots kitchen towel, with a touch of glitter.
Hope I didn't forget anything. This is SO much, please share your other goodies with friends or whoever; I am most appreciative of all these items. and will think of you fondly, and hope we perhaps can even meet someday. And hope you have a very happy birthday as well.
Thank you; thank you.

I am glad you liked everything. I had been gathering since I got your name and had your printed wish list in my purse. I have some special quilt blocks that I will share with you later-they were gifted to me and appear to be from older fabrics. You'll just find a surprise in your mailbox someday. Hope you have a wonderful Birthday! Karen

I've been MIA ... buried in the bathroom in tiles and grout! Am getting too old for this type of work but in the end I'll have a nice new walk-in shower and I'll actually smell purty! Can't wait to turn on that hot water!

WOW! See what happens when we don't have any birthdays? This thread was on page #3! Looks like our next B'Day isn't until the 20th.

Ladies, Thank You so much for making this a wonderful Swap. All the gifts have been super and I'm sure all the recipient shave enjoyed each and every one of them.

Thought I would throw this out there....

Mine is coming up in July.. the big 60 Eek and I've always had a dream ... my dream car. So... whoever has my name, if you happen to hit the lottery for a couple million and want to splurge, I've always dreamed of owning a Navy Blue Convertible Mercedes LOL! Hubby says the closest I might get to it is a VW... that's fine as I love them too Wink

I know this is late.... and a bit whiney... and I am *really new here... but is there anyway I can join in? I never get any presents for my birthday (no-- really, I don't!) and I would love it if I can feel a little bit thought of this year. Red Face I know, it is corny but I hate my birthday because I feel forgotten. So... if you have a flakey person... I can be not flakey! (well, most of the time!)

Hi Jolene Big Grin

Welcome to the board. We're a great bunch of ladies who are always up to something fun so don't hestitate to jump in.

Unfortuanetly the SSBG signups take place in November each year and names are matched up by January 1st. This year I think I will start signups a little early - maybe in October so be on the lookout. If you would like to send me your name, address and birthday, M or email I will put you on the list should someone drop out before the end of the year. My email addy is bnickilee at AOL dot com.... typed out for security reasons.
