Nicki-I'm finishing up my quilts for you tomorrow. I will be sending you 4 of them. I used all fabric from my leftover stash. One is Razorback fabric for Arkansas. 2 are pinwheels. 1 is all flying geese that I had made several years ago. I swear I have a huge shoe box full of them!

I would love to keep making them to send you as I get time! I keep finding different combinations that would make good dollie quilts. I can only imagine the smiles from the little ones on Christmas. Just the thought really warms my heart and makes me happy! You're such an angel to host this.

I'll get in the mail by Friday.

Hugs,

Pam

I have one scrappy one done that I tied, also crocheted one. Am working on a second one, might send what I have done and a couple more later. The second quilt is new to me to do so not sure how want the quilting on it. Started to do by hand but didn't like so tore that out, just never did machine quilting so it has been holding me up. Will have the one quilt in the mail by friday if that is okay.

Dani, I'm so appreciative for the work you are doing with this project. Don't be intimedated by machine quilting. There's no right or wrong way...you can do diagonal or stitch in the ditch or criss-cross, etc. The children will love ANYTHING you do. I'll be watching for them.

wannaquilt2 this was a fun, fun thing for me to head up. I love the big hearts you quilters have. Can't you just visualize the looks on the woodworking elves faces when they see all these quilts? Eek

luvthosequilts, I'm soooo looking forward to getting the afghan. It will be a very unique & wonderful addition to the "bed coverings". Thanks so much for thinking of the children when you had it as an extra.

North Caroline is finished! I will take it to Post Office at 9am tomorrow. I liked how it turned out, it's paper pieced fish. Would suit a girl, or a boy if any boys are going to be participating.

I would be up for doing one next year again too, perhaps I better start now lol. It amazes me how some people made a whole stack!

Today I got in doll quilts. The first is from Kay-lin for Idaho. It's so soft & fluffy & pretty. I just love the block she used for it & it works so well for scrappy. The ric-rack between each block is such a sweet touch. The border is made to look like a wide binding. Now how clever is that? Thank you Kay-lin for such a wonderful quilt that some sweet little girl will love for a long, long time.

The next that came in is from Jayardi representing Wisconsin. Jean sent three wonderful quilts & each is so unique & beautiful. All are in blues & yellow with a lot of free motion quilting (which is wonderfully done). Jean can really think out of the box when it comes to quilting. The one on the right with all the little appliqued squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, etc. is backed with a really soft fleece. Thank you Jean for your precious gifts to the children.

Oh to receive a doll quilt for Christmas has got to be a dream come true for so many children. Thank you all for your support & contributions to them.

City/Sandie Thank you! I saw that and thought it appropiate to represent Oregon. LOL I backed the quilt in that fabric too. (Didn't realize my pic was that out of focus.)

NLK, I echo the question-- should we send more to you or to the lady in SC??

Blue Skies7 quilt came in today & it's so cute. She posted a picture earlier so you can scroll up & see it on this thread. The green border has sparkles in it & the color almost glows. The back is the same duck fabric as on the front. The little happy ducks will make a little girl smile when she receives it. Thank you Sara, for such a well done job on the quilt.

Today I received a happy quilt from wannaquilt2. This little quilt is one that just makes you smile the minute you see it. Look at those happy animals all over the quilt. The bright colors will make it a fun quilt for the recepient. She used the pink for the backing & a bright, bright green for the binding. I'm impressed with those perfect mitered corners! Thank you so much for such a cute quilt & for helping with this great project.

Some of you gals committed to making a quilt for a state & some of you just sent in something for the project. Lusthosequilts did not pick a state but sent in this beautiful crocheted afghan for the children. Now this is so heartwarming to me to have quilters go above & beyond the call. Thank you so much for the hours you put into making this little doll afghan. I wish all of you could feel this...it's so very, very soft. Thank you Dianne for such a wonderful gift for the Christmas project.

The quilts really came in today & these two are from Aliquilts representing Ohio. Get your sunglasses on because the green one will cause you to blink twice & the back is just as colorful with green & blue stripes. The other one is still cheery bright but with softer colors. I love the backing...it looks like confetti & check out the way she did the corners. Instead of mitered corners, aliquilts did sort of flat corners. I love everything I'm learning from all the quilts that are coming in. Thank you Aliquilts for such cute quilts.

Here's the last quilt that came in today & it came without a board name on it. It came from New York so right now I'm going to assume that it came from longjohn. It's so cute with all those little squares with tons of different fabrics. Actually, I didn't see any two fabrics the same in the whole quilt. The back is pink with the cutest little Snoopy & Woodstock fabric all over it. This quilt is going to make a little girl jump with joy when she gets it with her stroller/bed from the woodworkers. Thanks so much for helping.

ETA: Just got a p.m. from longjohn & YES this is her little New York quilt. Thanks!!!!!

Was wondering if could get a little help on my problem child quilt. I have never machine quilted and only a little hand quilting. Can sew a straight line as make sure to mark it out. This is my year to try new things. And in that light I made my first minature quilt, first applique and first dresdan plate quilt. So am including a picture of my quilt that Bozie inspired me to do. The background fabric is a mottled tan and the plate and fans appliqued on with fancy stitch on machine (first for that too Smile ) So how would you quilt this if not very experienced? Didn't want to rush it so did little scrappy quilt and sent that instead. Still hope to send this one too. Yet after month or so looking at it, trying a hand stitch on it but didn't work without hoop. Would really love some advice. Thinking of finding hoop and hand stitching it when go to Traverse City Tuesday morning for sister's MRI, or taking crochet and doing another and plug away at machine on it. OK, long story short here is picture, and thanks in advance.

Dani - rather than wear yourself out on it .. try drawing some lines - i like a hera marker, it's white plastic thing with a nice firm edge that makes a line when you pull it along a ruler ... start at middle of one side, go to the middle of the next end, then over to the other side, and then back - maybe do it a couple of times if there is room, Draw another line along the borders, corner to corner - and stitch on that line - again if there is room you cuold do another row if you wanted. If your machine has some pretty stitches this would be a time to practice with them .. just take your time, don't expect it to look like it was done by a long arm person - it's never gonna happen! Mostly just relax and enjoy finishing it. Take crocheting and a book with you for your sisters MRI - you don't need the added stress of project that has been difficult!
Take it easy on yourself .... you have lots of support and encouragement right here - and we want you to have fun and not get discouraged.
PS... your project is very pretty - giterdun ..

Dani, first let me congratulate you on all your "firsts" this year. You are doing awesome learning & experiencing new ways to quilt. I try to do one thing new with each quilt I make. Sometimes it works....sometimes it doesn't. When I have something that I'm not sure how to quilt I often sketch the quilt on a piece of paper & take a red pencil & "practice" on some different quilting on the paper before putting the needle to the fabric. Most important....relax & enjoy. After all, quilting is mostly a hobby for the majority of us & hobbies are suppose to be fun.

Dani, When in doubt about what quilting you may want to do...Take a piece of thick clear plastic the size of your quilt. Lay it over the quilt area and use Dry Erase Markers and draw different designs to see what you like and what you may want to tackle in the form of quilting....If you can draw it you can quilt it......I made a small walhanging for my friend using the Dresden and I straight stitched around the Dresden and then I FM stippled around the backgroung and it came out super...That was a few years ago. Now I can not make the "doggie bone" stipple like most folks do, I just did a small design like "popcorn" for lack of a better word and it did come out super,IMHO. Doll quilts are the best to practice on.

Remember if you can draw it ...you can quilt it...

Super,Super dolly quilts everyone. What a terrific job everyone has done.

Here are 2 more quilts for your viewing pleasure. These are from lionpride (representing Indiana). Thank you so much for these beautiful quilts As you can see the one on the left is crocheted. What a special little quilt to make a special little girl happy. The other one is a darling little scrappy quilt that is tied with beautiful red thread. She made this one "pillowcase" style by putting right sides together, sewing, & turning it right side out. The backing is such cute fabric with stars all over it. Thank you lionpride, for all your hard work with these special quilts. She sent me a little gift of a fat quarter which I love. It's colorful with flowers. :hugs:
