Morning Stars

Star Additional Notes~ Star

** Do NOT be intimidated by paper-piecing! Wink

**When you open the template to print the pieces, you may have to click on the page before printing to get the page to enlarge to the right size. Make SURE you measure the little one inch square to check.

**Cut rectangles of fabric 3.5 x 4.5 inches for the triangles~ the larger size will help you to not end up with spots that don't get covered.

**For the corner triangles cut 2~ 5 inch squares and cut on one diagonal.

**Press your fabrics well before starting~ a spritz of starch will help too.

**Take your time~ you have all month. Wink

Step Two~ make another chain block for this month. Wink
~or make more~ you will need 13 chain blocks. Wink

I thought I would check quick before going to bed. I have done a little paper piercing and loved the results but it really made me think while doing it. I will give this one a try on Sunday.

Good Morning BOM friends ! I hear the sun is coming out today, but I'm staying in ... 9 in the morning is just not my idea of fun outside Smile

Here's my contribution for BOM ... I know it might look tough, but it's REALLY NOT! Like the Crazy gal said, if you just follow the directions, and just take one element at a time, it's alot easier than it looks ... and the points on this block ROCK! That's one thing about PP'g, the points are sharp and exact Smile

I've already raised all the protests my BOM friends would want to ... but seriously, even for someone like me that doesn't do PP'g, it was good Smile Just a tad stretching of my skills, but growth is good, right ?

And let me just say ... IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN! I'm not a paper piecer per se, but this one was good ... I was surprised at how easy it actually was ... CBQ gives excellent directions, so just follow the directions and ask questions where you need to Smile

We're looking forward to seeing all the beautiful creativity that comes out this month! C'MON .... YOU CAN DO IT !

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT MY WALK ... on my RELAY FOR LIFE PAGE

Bring on the New Year ... it's MY YEAR for sewing!

Beautiful blocks ladies. I am one that likes paper piecing, but don't know about my color selections for this one.. um rwb...??

Just a point on printing the templates.. if your program doesn't print to the 1" test square. I had to change my paper size to 8 x 10" (20 x 25 metric) in order to get the right size. Still used my 8.5 x 11 paper, just printed to the smaller size.

I think y'all know that I am not a fan of paper piecing ... but I'd like to lay down a CHALLENGE to the BOM friends ... even if you're not a fan of paper piecing, give it a try... you might surprise yourself, and really like it Big Grin It's a perfect opportunity to take a small step with ONE BLOCK ... easy enough to give it a good trial run, or a practice Big Grin

Thanks for stretching ME, CBQ Smile

I was positive that we would have pping block this year. Now to print out the pattern and actually make it.
Just a question. with the sizes of the rectangles and triangles are they sized generously or just making do? I took a pping class at LQS cut the fabric to the size they said and because I was new with that technique I didn't have an easy time making the pieces fit and it was so frustrating, I gave up.

Patty before you cut your fabric, pin it to your paper to see what will fit. I cut mine generously to be sure, but still try not to waste too much.

Thanks Patricia,,, I think I don't mind wasting a little fabric, so I'm going to make a trial and then adjust the size as needed. That way when Sue comes down I'll have it right for her. I don't like things when they are so precise that there isn't any cushion. Does that make sense??

It wasn't bad at all Smile The center was the trickest bit, getting all the bulk of the seams to play nicely.

I love read and white quilts, they always make me smile...so this ones for me!

KS- you did you! I like your block and especially the red and white. Maybe that's the key when you don't like pp... just do it! I'll remember that about the middle being bulky and wonder if the Chicks have any hints on that part?
Good job getting it done so fast!

Very nice KS. Like the red and white.

I pulled out the fabric and printed the pattern yesterday. Have to go to the LQS today and hopefully find my background fabric. Was going to do scrappy background, but don't like what I have on hand.. we'll see what I find. The other LQS where I'm sure I can find something is a little drive, so maybe later this week a short road trip.

one suggestion I have is take the paper off the sections before the final assembly. it went together so much better.
Now I have my picture ready. finished last night.

ohhh I just love your block Patricia Anne, Amethyst is my birthstone, and yellow is another of my favorite colors, great colors together.

ETA: Although this was not hard...I still DO NOT enjoy pp'ing Razz all that flipping and flopping and pressing...lol...but it is done, so I can breathe a little before March!
