Does anyone know where I can find info on making these neck coolers? My son has a lawn care business and I am searching for ways to help him stay cool in this hot weather.

KC, thanks for posting the link to your tute. It looks easy enough, Maybe I should make some for our fishing trip. Is there a local place that the polimar (spelling) can be purchased. Like a garden center or JAs?

It's been a few years since I bought any - but pretty sure I went to Lowes and got it in the garden center.

I use these when out camping when it gets bad. Have a friend that gets affected by the heat quite quickly and these have helped get her temp back down quite well.

thanks for this posting; I had made some last summer for all my sons and sil's. Had one left over and just went looking for it for my husband for tomorrow. live in texas and it's getting hot, hot, hot. and besides he's 71 and has decided to go back to work for a little while. anyway, i am soaking it as we speak, but had a question. do you have to soak it each time you use it or just keep it in plastic baggie in refrig? thanks for your help.

Sash, if I am working outside, I keep a bucket with cold water handy to "refresh" it for a few minutes before using it again. Yes, you can put it in a plastic bag, but be careful not to leave it there for long-term storage as it might begin to grow mold.

After using my neck coolers, I rinse off in water and squeeze out most of the moisture and leave on a screen or an area where the air will circulate around the cooler until it dries off completely before storing away. If I know I will be using it, I put it in a bucket of very cold or ice water and let it soak to absorb the water for at least 20 minutes or so before using.

I just bought some of the pellets at Home Depot. Miracle Grow makes them and they are in the garden dept.
