I thought I would let you see what has kept me busy for a while. The youngest daughter was just married and my sister and I made the dress. (The sister did a lot of the figuring for the pleating and ruffles to lay right.) We had the girl stand in the underdress and draped the folded the fabric on her, then stitched it where needed.

This picture was taken at a second reception a couple weeks later. This was what the dress looked like after washing it, letting it hang to dry (since the first daughter was worried of color transfer from her dryer), and having it half smashed while traveling, and no pressing before she put it on! That is why I will only use Casa satin for things I want to be good.

the back with it bustled. just a one point swing and hold style. They were re-inacting their first dance that they had someone choreograph for them.

That is outstanding! All of those ruffles and pleats worked out perfectly. Your sister is one fabulous seamstress. I love his attire for the photos!

Beautiful bride and beautiful dress. You did a fabulous job. I was wondering about the grooms attire also.

This reception was 2 weeks after the wedding in his home state--his mom "offered" to rent a tux for him, but for some reason he declined! Here is a picture from the first reception, same dance.

and one of the best parts of the father/daughter dance. She is the one that he did more child care when she was a baby due to job shifting by us both!

You must be so proud. Your daughter and her Dad dancing is priceless, do the tears still run when you see the photo? The dress is beautiful. It really did hold it's shape after washing.

Oh my goodness that's a handsome couple dancing there! Looks like a movie set!!! Those ruffles and draping are made for it. Just incredible. So beautiful.

Thanks, no the tears don't fall when I see the father/daughter dance, but the smile sure comes. The man is a great one, a real keeper. Even after 36 years I wouldn't change him---in fact right now he is in the kitchen making supper for us--you don't change that!!!

Just wonderful, the bride & hubby and all the rellies, you and sissy and DH, cooking !!! WOW I guess he is a keeper. I did a dress for 4th DD 4 years ago. Now 5th DD at 35 is tying the knot in Oct, but whew, she found a dress all done. Any suggestions on where to find a MOB dress? I don't want to make one, have done many, but no more. Oh, where do you buy the Casa satin, it looks amazing, packing and washing and all. TIA Joyce

Joyus, Casa satin (and other coordinating fabrics, organza, sheer, crepe, etc) are at Joann's. The regular cost is about 8-10 per yard. Watch for the coupons, many times it is 30% off too.

My last few MOB (or groom!) dresses I found at Herbergers. This one I checked them out online and ordered the ones on clearance that looked like my style and were in the wedding color range. This one is the only one of the 3 that was the real right color and fit and looked the best.

Thanks for the info. Herbies was alwas my best shot, but so far nothing in Mkto! Online Dillards has a couple possiblities. Never realized the Joanns satin was so good. DD 4&5 went to Vogue fabrics in Chicago to get lace and silk for the 4th ones dress.Your dress is very nice, but I think they are gone now, boo hoo. Joyce

Joyus, are you in MN? Around Mkto? If so just keep coming east for 60 miles to my neck of the woods.

Hope you can find a dress for you that works.
