CIRCLE of FRIENDS ~ AUG 18th ~ INFO IN A NUT SHELL

Well gals ... we are on final approach to the Circle of Friends Retreat in Branson ... so we're gonna recap in a nutshell Smile You can use this as a checkoff sheet to make sure your chicks are in a row Smile WE ONLY HAVE THESE MANY DAYS TIL WE ARE WOOPIN IT UP IN BRANSON!!!

FIRST OF ALL ~ HAVE YOU LET nlk KNOW OF YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS? YOU CAN FIND THE THREAD FOR INFO HERE TRAVEL INFO
~ We need to get our shuttle schedule going to/from the Branson Airport, so WE NEED your info!
~ If you are driving, please let us know, so if for some reason you're delayed, we'll know how you are coming and how to contact you!

DID YOU SIGN UP FOR THE BOUTIQUE TABLE?
~ Sign-ups will be closing on AUGUST 21st, so if you want a table, please GO TO THE BOUTIQUE TABLE THREAD AT Boutique Table Thread The instructions on what to do next are on the top of the thread Smile

Did you see the class schedule ? You will be contacted by your teacher on what supplies you will be needing to bring. You can find the COF CLASS SCHEDULE AT CLASS SCHEDULE CBQ has worked HARD to develop this class list, and we have some GREAT teachers who will be sharing in their skills. It will be fun... and if you are not scheduled for a class at that time, there will be time for chat or hand sewing or other fun... just sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful fall in Branson!

HAVE YOU PACKED YOUR BINGO FQs ? You SURE don't want to miss out on that fun with Chanlady, the infamous Bingo Caller, and the tales of her friends, Ole and Lena. I can't wait to hear of their travels to the Ozarks! Smile You can find all the info at THE BINGO THREAD Don't forget now... we changed the quantities you had to have to what you could have Smile

The categories for FQ Bingo are ~
~ ASIAN fabrics ... those gorgeous Orientals! (4 FQs per player)
~ REPRODUCTION fabrics ~ can be Civil War, 30's or other repro (4 FQs per player)
~ FALL ~ Gotta have those FABULOUS fall fabrics! {NO HALLOWEEN} (4 FQs per player)
~ BATIKS !!! What would a party be without Batiks!!! (4 FQs per player)
~ BLACK & WHITES ~ fabric with black background & white print, or white background & black print (4 FQs per player)
~ NEUTRAL fabrics ~ beiges, tans, off whites, tone on tone lights (4 FQs per player)
~ UGLIES ... Everyone has some they are tired of or wonder WHY they ever bought those! No limit as to how many go into the pot, but 4 minimum.
~ ANYTHING GOES ~ this will be anything you want to throw in, or maybe you won some you don't really want. Please make sure this is 100% GOOD QUALITY COTTON FABRIC. This will be the last Bingo game. This would be time permitting.

DID YOU PACK YOUR FQ CHALLENGE PROJECT IN AN UNMARKED BROWN PAPER BAG? We will be collecting them and give you a number which we will mark your bag with and tag your project when it's time to set them out Smile ONLY YOU will know which project is yours, and we will VOTE on the projects for different categories Smile It sure is FUN to see how different everyone interprets the fabric and the creativity that spurs for this project! Smile If you need more info on this, check out THE BLOG

ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR POP TABS FOR THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE COLLECTION? We've been collecting the pull tabs from sodas, tuna cans, pet food, soup, veges ... if it has a pull tab, we'll take the pop tab Smile The tabs are recycled and the funds are used to help defer the cost of expenses (altho minimal, still add up) for the families of kids who are being treated at local hospitals. It's a GREAT organization, and we will be PROUD to bring the tabs for the RMH in Springfield Smile For more info, go to the thread at POP TAB COLLECTION!

HAVE YOU PACKED YOUR SHOW & TELL? On Friday, we will be having a SHOW & TELL where you bring one item to share so we can have some "eye candy" and ooooo and ahhhhhh ! It's not a requirement, but you know, us quilters always like to see the beauty of others' labors Smile And if you don't have a S&T, then you can talk a little about your row robin, if you choose. It will just be a little time of "getting to know each other" better Big Grin

ARE YOU GOING TO THE QUILTED COW ON THURSDAY? I will be publishing a MAP for you to find the shop, no matter which area you come in from Smile Jennifer, the owner, is such a sweet gal, and is very excited to be having our group come to her shop for lunch and fun Smile It's not a huge shop, but she's fun and excited that y'all are coming and is preparing a nice lunch and goodies for you ! And if time permits, you can always stop at the store in Branson... I'll be publishing maps on how to get to the local goodies Big Grin

DONT FORGET YOUR MONEY TO PURCHASE YOUR RONALD McDONALD QUILT RAFFLE TICKETS! I have the quilts here in my home, and will be bringing them down for each to see as we are drawing the tickets! So far we have raised a little over $1200 for the new Ronald McDonald House being built in Springfield! Mercy Hospital is donating a whole floor to serve those parents with a child being treated there at Mercy... what a GREAT cause! THANK YOU to all who have supported so far, and the rest of the tickets can be bought IN BRANSON at the retreat! If you take all the cans you've collected the tabs from and recycle them, that would make a great way to purchase your tickets! Big Grin RONALD McDONALD HOUSE RAFFLE INFO

DO YOU HAVE THE SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR YOUR CLASSES? The class list is posted by the Crazy one Big Grin HERE . Each teacher will be sending out PMs for info on what supplies you will need to bring.

IF YOU HAVE NOT MAILED THEM, ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR SIGGY BLOCKS? CBQ will be swapping them out, so WHEN YOU COME TO REGISTER FOR THE RETREAT, PLEASE TURN IN YOUR SIGGY BLOCKS THEN! I have seen some of the blocks, are this will make A SUPER CUTE QUILT!

T-SHIRTS will be handed out when you register for the retreat. If you choose to wash them, you can use the washer/dryer in the condo Smile All the other info you need for the retreat will be given to you when you register. Included in that will be maps of Branson as well as some discount coupons for eating / shows, etc.

IF YOU HAVE FREEBIES FOR THE "FREE FOR TAKING TABLE", pack them along as well. We will have an area set up for items that you may be tired of, but that is good enough that someone else might love it as much as you did. You know what they say ... "one gals trash is another gals treasure". I find this true with orange fabric Smile

IF YOU ARE BRINING YOUR SEWING MACHINE please have it LABELED! If you can possibly bring a power strip or 2, it would be appreciated, AND WE WANT THOSE LABELED TOO! so we can return them! We will label your machine pedals and power cords as well... WE WILL HAVE LABELS AT THE RETREAT TO DO THIS! Smile

DON'T FORGET SPENDING MONEY! It can be in the form of plastic or cash Smile There is lots of shopping in Branson to do on your free time, and we'll also be supporting the Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Show in Springfield on Saturday. There is a large display of beautiful quilts, along with many local vendors. WHO can resist buying something at a quilt show? It will be fun! Lunch on Saturday will be on your own at the quilt show.

MEALS at the retreat consist of dinner Friday, dinner Saturday and Sunday lunch. All other meals will be on your own. There are TONS of restaurants in Branson (hundreds, literally), and some within walking distance. But we also have the luxury of being in a condo, so if you want something light like cereal and fruit, you have the ability to store them in your room. The kitchens will be stocked with all items needed IF you decide to bring in food to cook Smile

1000 HILLS RESORT offers many amenities. So if you want to partake in that fun, make sure to pack the proper items needed (i.e. swimsuit, etc).

•Swimming Pool
•Whirlpool Jacuzzi-Type Tub
•Private Patio or Deck
•Spacious Living Room
•Fully-Equipped Kitchen
•DVD Player
•Televisions in all bedrooms
•Cable Television
•Premium Channels with ESPN, HBO
•Washers and Dryers

•All Major Appliances
•AM/FM Alarm Clock Radios
•All Linens Furnished
•Electronic Door Locks
•Free WiFi Internet

If you have any questions, please post them for all to see, or PM me and I will get you an answer asap.

IF YOU WANT TO MAIL ANY ITEMS TO ME AHEAD OF TIME (FQs for bingo, boutique items, whatever else)... PLEASE PM ME for my address, and MAIL THEM BY SEPT 10th. Just mark on the outside FOR:BOARDNAME PERSONAL, and I will just set the box aside to bring to Branson and it will be there for you to pick-up. If you mark it proper, it will not be opened. However, with dealing with door prizes arriving and such, if you fail to mark it, then I can't be held responsible Smile I do read each box as it arrives, so it will not be overlooked Smile

WE WELCOME THE HUSBANDS who will be coming for meals! They will each have a "Circle of Friends" identification card that I am making up, and if they choose to go to the Veterans Museum, they will be given a discounted price for showing it Smile

OK ... I think that's it for now "whew"! Did I forget anything? I'm hoping this list will help you NOT to forget anything! Please remember, we are here for you, so if you have a question, please let us know.... And we ARE SO EXCITED to meet our quilty minded friends! Some we've met before, and some we will be meeting for the first time!

Y'all have a safe trip, and BRING ON YOUR SMILEY FACE Big Grin We are gonna have SOME KIND FUN IN BRANSON!

I just wanted to let everyone that is taking hand quilting/ piecing with Bluesnail, (Lois), she had to take a sudden trip to PA. She is here now and has no internet access for a few days. She may not be home in Florida until the end of next week. So be patient with her, she may be the latest as well as one of the shortest! tee hee

INFO I FORGOT ~ BRANSON offers free trolley service around downtown... can you say Dicks 5&10? There's an old town flavor down there with lots of shopping and food and fun, and it's just right down from the Branson landing. You can take the trolley in between downtown and the Branson Landing, where there's more shopping and food and fun, and the fabulous fountains Big Grin

Check out Branson Trolley info for more information Smile

My computerized baby has to go to the hospital! Something's amiss with the stitches. I'll try to get him (he is a Brother after all Wink )checked in next week.

Seems that I was having a bit of trouble with him

I haven't been able to get Shirley Anne to FM yet so have relied on Bro for FM. I want to FM the GKs quilts for Christmas. All else fails, I can straight stitch them on Shirley Anne...but hope to have Bro stitching decent by retreat...

CBQ....... Since Quiltslots and my plans have changed due to Jackie breaking her ribs, I am not sure just yet what machine I will be bringing. We were going to drive but now we are flying and I have to figure some things out differently. I hope you have enough machines in case I decide not to bring mine. I can't wait to meet everyone.

Hey Y'all ~ somewhere, I say SOMEWHERE some asked about dress for the Early Bird Dinner ... it's Branson and it's at Andy's so you can BLING or you can JEAN or you can BLING YOUR JEANS! It's whatever you want to make it! T-shirts and jeans are totally acceptable, and dresses with blingy jewelry is just as acceptable... Branson seems to have their own dress code tho, on people LIKE to wear embroidered shirts w/matching pants. It's the only place I notice that kind of dressing, but then, I don't get out too much Big Grin

Just put some clothes over that birthday suit, and you will be dressed PERFECTLY Big Grin Wave

My DH is getting concerned, asking if I have his meals planned out for him. Asking for a supply of stuffed peppers enough to last until I come home. He is on a diet and wants to make sure there is enough in freezer to tide him over. LOL So I'll be cooking a lot before I leave. Don't want him to survive on eggs for a week, YUK.
Getting excited about meeting all of you in Branson or if we are lucky some along the way with our COF signs in the window. LOL
Got all my FQ for fq bingo in a bag, got my FQ challenge all done, and I started a list on what to pack. How about the rest of you???

I've been cooking too Patty... but am I supposed to be cooking for Steve? I've been more concerned with cooking for friends here getting the retreat stuff ready Big Grin

NO!!!! We don't cook for DH's before we leave!!!! They should've learned how to fend for themselves a long time ago. If they didn't, then they'll just appreciate us more when we get back!! Smile

I never cook for DH but have a friend who would cook and serve up and freeze meals for her DH when she went away. Then he never ate them -- he made do!!!

DH has decided to come with me...but there'd be no cooking here if he'd decided to stay home. I did that a couple of times and found the food still in the refrigerator. He fends for himself alright...it's call "restaurants." Wink

I copied the info above and pasted it into a Word document. Then went to the PMs and copied and pasted the supply info in the correct section. Deleted what didn't concern me and printed.

Plans (ah plans) are to put each class' needs in it's own tote...then pin a pic of the project and class time on that tote. Then one tote for the basic equipment to grab each time. That's the plan anyway. We'll see how organized I am.

I purchased enough fabric than needed for the placemat class but am afraid to cut off one yard. I'm going to need every inch of this fabric in order to get the required EIGHT placemats I need for my big table. So...I'm bringing it all with me.

ahahaha FFG ~ if you knew my Stevie, you'd know that's a big joke... he's a man's man who depends on no woman for nothing... he can cook, clean, do laundry ... he can do it all! Smile
I never worry about him cause he knows how to dig around in the fridge and find something to cook Smile

But... I WILL have some frozen stuff in the freezer just in case he wants them, and if not, we'll eat them when I get back home and am too tired to cook Smile But it's GOOD to hear I'm doing it right in not having to cook for him Smile He's a very well disciplined Marine ... and let me say, very patient as well Smile

My FMQ is a maybe now. The shop was closed as they are moving. I'll get it in Saturday...that gives them 2 weeks. Hope that they don't have a backlog from the move.

I will keep you informed.

Yours is still up Angela. I guess just us nice quilters get our avatar posted. Wink

I got to thinking the other day...I need a red cow"girl" hat and some red boots so y'all will recognize me. LOL I haven't had a hat in years and my boots are navy. Hmmm...wonder if SIL will loan me her red boots? Gotta find a flesh colored top too to keep y'all wondering whether I'm dressed or not. Well...gotta find something to "fill" that top. The seat is covered...literally.

I have forgotten...Do they serve a breakfast or are we on our own? I know it is a condo type unit but that means I needs to make a grocery stop. Is there a restaurant on the property?

Happy Stitching...Lois

Good Question Chanlady ...

There is a snack bar in the club house that serves some kinda food ... I did smell bacon one time I was there... so I think they make breakfast sandwiches.

But there are TONS of restaurants nearby ... fast food, sit down, you name it. And there's one place pretty close called Mel's Hard Luck Diner where the waiters and waitresses sing to you while you eat. It's got the flavor of the 50s, and the singers are REALLY good! Smile

So yes, you are on your own for breakfast, but there are restaurants all around the area... and a walmart right down the road for groceries and such. There was a grocery store right next to walmart, but it got damaged in the leap day tornados Frown

I plan on having a some milk, a box of cereal and bananas in my condo Smile along with snacks, of course... but it's one of the beauties of having a condo Big Grin
