I could not believe when I saw a Singer Featherweight sewing machine for sale in the local buy & sell for 25.00

There was no picture of it. I called & asked if it worked. Lady said it worked fine last time she used it. I arranged to go see it.

Well it was not what I was expecting to see after seeing the pictures posted here of featherweight machines. I was expecting to see something black, metal & old fashioned looking. This was modern looking, white & plastic, almost like a toy. She demonstrated & everything worked perfectly. For 25.00 I figured it would be a dandy travel machine or one the GKs could use. After seeing it in use today...I love it.

Grandson loves it too. This morning he made a pillow case. He even did french seams! perfect job Damon! I didn't have to touch a thing, he did it all. My only contribution was the fabric from my stash & some verbal guidance. He was some proud of himself & I was too.

Nice find Lens... for that price you can't pass up a machine that works so well.
Seems the DGS has a sewing machine! Good for him making the pillow case on his own!

Thanks, he really likes it & has no trouble threading it & today he even changed the needle. He enjoys sewing & understands when to raise/lower the presser foot, put needle up/down & pivot. I have sisters who don't know those things. Smile

I agree it is a great buy. Send out kudus to your grandson for making the pillowcase, French seams included. Pat

I wonder if it's the Featherweight my platform fits? I foolishly bought a FW extended table that was supposed to fit around the machine to give more platform space, but I didn't look closely. Well, it didn't fit, and I then found there was a new machine Singer called Featherweight! Enjoy your new machine.
