I am so very jealous of all you that live in Oregon. You have so many great quilt shops. I just returned this week from 10 days in Oregon. And it would take 10x that many days to visit them all. Due to family stuff was only able to visit two - The Quilt Loft in Albany and Threads That Bind in Coos Bay - but saw several others and ads for tons more. Can't wait for my next trip, but it will probably be sometime next year.

Just wanted ya'll to know how jealous I am.

I've only visited Oregon once and it was so cool! They have the button emporium in downtown Portland (shout out to Ms Bananas & Headie Lamar!!), Sisters Quilt Show & wicked cold ocean (who knew? Lol). I'd go back in a heartbeat! Do u have family in the area?

Thanks for the tribute, Karen---yes--you only saw two, and we do have soooo many more !! Next year, if you can, plan for the Sister's show in early July ! I am pretty sure that everyone who was here in 2010 will give it a "thumbs up".
Toryam---come back anytime--I'll pick you up at the airport and take you wherever you want to go !!!

Loved the retreat in Portland, and the Sisters Show was fabulous... And Ashland, OR. DD and I stayed in Ashland and went to the Elizabethan theater en route south to SF.

toryam, my daughter and her family live there. Beautiful part of the country. But (can't believe I'm going to say this) I did miss the Southern Heat.

pegsami, would love to visit for Sisters, but the plan right now is for an end of August visit next year for the Balloon Festival in Albany.

I am headed to Sandy this weekend to check out Pegsami's quilt guild show. Will definitely be hitting Fabric Depot as well. Gotta love all the quilting goodness in the Portland area! I don't think we will do Sisters this year, just too long a day for my Mom.

I remember one year when they threatened to close the Sister's show because of wildfires. It made the news and non quilters got on the website questioning why the possible closing of the show was news worthy - the Oregon quilters got on the website and set them straight! LOL

Karen - I have tried to make that balloon show several years in a row but something always comes up and I never get out there. One day.
