Show me your quilted scarfs, please
I'm thinking about making a couple of quilted scarfs like we learned at last year's P.J. Party but I'm thinking about putting fringe at the bottom of the scarfs. I know that some of you made scarfs with the fringe & I would love to see pictures of with & without fringe. I loved the one I made & remember them being so easy to make.

Here's the one I made at the P.J. Party

Nick, thanks for reminding me ... I need to get all my mittens and scarf down out of the closet. The one I made out of flannel at the Pj party last year is one of my favorites....so warm and soft!

There's a another one. This used a resale scarf as a base and I put the strips on one side and folded the edges in on it and stitched down. So the fringe was pre-existing.

Slightly OT, but this may be of interest to someone reading about scarves in this post...

http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2...d-flannel-scarf.html

I made that scarf last winter out of a lightweight wool & a contrasting faux suede for the gathered part. It was really easy to make. Just watch how long & wide you make it, as it can get too bulky to drape or knot nicely. Also, I topstitched the edges for a more finished look (and to close the opening).

You could fringe/bead that scarf, too.

I have a question about the fringe. Does it wad up after washed & washed?

Starry Sky, I like that technique. It's really cute.

Great timing. I was thinking of using some of the washable wool blends I received to make some scarves for presents. Thanks for the tutorial, Starry Sky.

I have only handwashed this so don't know about the fringe in the washer. The fringe is long but I used something I had on hand.

These are all so pretty. Now that it's once again gift giving time, it might be nice to repost the instructions.

This one I made for DH.

I do have some more fabrics stacked together for more scarves, just haven't done them yet.

Thank you, Mandylifeboats, for being a great PJ Party teacher!

Jayardi has the instructions in her P.J. Party tutorials. If you find any post from her, at the bottom in her signature line area she has a link to the P.J. Party Tutorials. She's such a sweetie for saving these for us when we need them again.

I agree that the flannel on the back is much warmer than the ones I did without flannel.

Made these for my two GDs yesterday. They are going to N. Texas for T-day and thought if it was chilly they might like to have scarves. The first one I made for Ava who is 7. She likes the peace symbol. The other is for Georgia who is 5 and loves purple.

I'm loving all that I see. I saw some fabrc at Walmart this week-end that I almost bought (now I wish I had) to make the ones I want to make for Christmas. There was no one at the cutting table or even around the fabric area so I left did the rest of my shopping. I should have gone back & hunted someone up because now I want to start sewing. Frown I think I'll go back the day after Thanksgiving & get my supplies.

And yet another reason why I need to stay out of the fabric store. . . I can see so many cute fabrics becoming scarves now.

OBTW, I was told in the store that our Walmart is doing a remodel (again) in February and the fabric dept. is being expanded!!!! So we'll go from a few fabrics to probably the quilt basics wall etc.

Reba, I think a lot of the W. stores are bringing back fabric. Our Walart went from a full blown fabric dept...to no fabric at all...to pre-cut fabrics & 1 table of cheap, thin fabric...to bolts & a cutting table about 1/4th the size of the original dept. I would love to have the full-blown dept. again but right now I'm happy with the modified dept. At least I have some choices again.
