What can I do with the starter package? I see all kinds of add-ons offered. Does it have blocks included so that you can set-up a whole quilt's worth of blocks + add basic colors to try out????? I keep getting e-mails about the program and I think it is getting to me that I want this helping hand LOL.

If you are asking about their "Design Wizard" I haven't used it but but here's a link to info about it.

I use mine daily and love it. I've not bought any add-ons since version 4. I thought it would be handy to have extra blocks but I seldom used them. So I didn't buy any with versions 5, 6, or 7. EQ does a great job improving the software so it's been worthwhile to me to upgrade. I find it helpful and fun to draw blocks. It's easy to do. But the basic program has lots of blocks. I did download the free monthly fabrics.

Do you need to be good at math to make this program work??

No Patty, you don't need to be good at math to use this program. My little granddaughter has been playing with my EQ6 for the past few years. She is 11 now.

I think I might buy that basic program for her as a gift so she can have it installed on her own computer & play away with it to her heart's content. She loves designing quilts & coloring them on screen with the color selections & fabric selections. Great fun.

Hmmmmm maybe if an 11 year old can figure it out there might be hope for me. LOL I'm going to look into it, might make a good present from DH. Thanks Pat

The lovely thing about it is you can print templates for each piece, print paper piecing sheets, or rotary cutting directions. If you draw it as a 9" block them change your mind to do 12" blocks all you do is change that one number and all the math is done for you. The program has more blocks than I'll ever use.

I was really asking about the EQ # program, any edition. But I'm also glad you brought up the Design Wizard as I had never heard of it.

I would like to tinker with a computerized progam and be able to visualize the color placements in whatever quilt I am hoping to make. I know so little about this that I don't know what questions to ask you all.

ops...sorry...I meant the Design Wizard program. Think I'll get that one for the GD to play around with. I have EQ6 but that was a birthday treat for myself few years ago. Guess when I referred to the DW as being a "basic" program I was thinking "cost wise" since it is less costly than another EQ program.
