I got a new to me machine and am having problems with tension.

Something sounds loose under the plate/bobbin area, but of course, can't find it when it's not running. Anyone else have problem with something similar?

do you always use the x 1 needle?

if you have a stitch regulator, does it work good with the machine for you? This seems to either skip stitches or I am way too fast and move faster than the speed of light and have toe catchers. LOL Maybe part of the tension problem??

does there seem to be a better weight of thread that your machine prefers?

Maybe it's the stitch regulator not working well?

Any help or suggestions would be of great help at this point.

Thanks oodles.

ETA: very limited instructions in the book.

Sounds like you do not have the bobbin in correctly maybe??? and /or there is lint under the bobbin casing????? At least that's what happens when I have this issue with my Janome 6500...I don't have any experience with a 1600 machine.

Did the yahoo group and got some good replies. Trying some of the suggestions and seems little lady "Paulie Girl" likes her feed dogs left in place.

I will as well be trying some different thread...

Thanks so much for your help!!!
