Mug rugs for my closest co workers (teachers) and bowling friends. A fleece throw (tied/knotted but with hand embroidered GIANT letters of their favorite soccer team) for my parents, a train themed styrofoam tree (pinned fabric and then charms) for my grandpa, a salsa themed tote bag for my uncle, a hawaii tote bag for the same grandpa, and I am giving my grandma the dragon crazy quilt block I made a while back (last year?) for a crazy quilt challenge.

Oh- and personalized stockings for myself, my parents, my brother, my grandparents, and 2 uncles. They turned out really cool, with personalized labels... once I finish this LENGTHY lesson plan for work (grr!) I will post pictures.

I just finished a TOP of a quilt of a friend for Chr*stmas...she's got a midarm and pantographs. If whe waits for me to clunk along and do my basic mediocre quilting, we'd both be wearing our heavenly outfits and wouldn't give a hoot about it...

Sister Sue and I made 2 quilts for my sons and DILs. One queen sized and the other King sized. One was a double Irish chain in blue and white the other was a Nickel quilt made with black sashing and bright colored bricks. Hope they like them, if not Sue wants them back. I'm also crocheting a afghan for a step grandaughter and knitted a grey varigated scarf for my grandaughter. This message has been edited. Last edited by: patty j,
Just two more wallhanings to go. I've finished 7 so far 3 wildlife ones and 4 still lifes. Then I made 4 of the Abbie Bag pincushions. If I didn't make it, they are not getting anything. I decided that I'd spent all this money on wonderful fabric, I'd better do something useful and fun with it. So far so good.

This a gift for my son. It s a quilted microwave bowl holder and two towels I trimmed to match. More to come as I get them finished. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MountainLaurel,
I have lots of sewn items going out. Pairs of pillow cases for 2 nephews and a niece. Crayon wallets for 2 great nieces - 2 each (DGD already got one of the experiments). I have my older nieces name and she is getting a tote bag, pillow, wallet, rice bags all from HUNKY PAATRIOTS fabric. Now I am working on the "$2.5 million" bra from Victoria's Secret for her. Here is what a crayon wallet looks like:
My wallet folds three times and has a tic tac toe board on the back. I also make 10 markers. This takes care of the problem in restaurants "I need more colors"

Hw could I goof on a coaster? I mean, I can do some really complicated stuff!!! How could I mess this up??? Sheesh. She gets 4 coasters, not the 6 I'd planned...who ever heard of a set of 5????. Well, I guess I keep the odd man out, so as I'll know how to make the next set of SIX.
Sigh. Maybe it was because I was watching a morose movie....nah...can't even blame it on that...I just cut it too short.

I'm making mug rugs for friends at church. But my favorite quilt-related gift is for my 8 year old DGD. For several years she has been wanting her own sewing machine and this is the year she's getting one! I've cut a stack of squares for her to practice sewing on and possibly make a doll quilt with.
MaryLou, I'm getting my grandaughter a sewing machine and didn't think about getting something together for her to practice on. Thanks for the idea. Pat
Boy everyone has been busy !!! I have made 15 table toppers for all my DD's and DGD's. They were fun to make and since I love handwork the bindings were fun too. I got started early this year and have them finished now. I will get some pics done and try to post them. May all of you have a blessed Christ*mas.

Made this snap bag to hold an Ipad yesterday, giving it to DS girlfriend. I made her a pillowcase out of the same fabric last month and had just enough fabric to make this soft case. I figure if someone sees an Ipad and they have "sticky fingers" they will take it. But if it is inside this bag it does not get the attention.

Texana, especially in Wisconsin.LOL LOL That is a great idea, I'll have to make a trip to JA's to see what team colors they have there? Son isn't a Packer fan.
Clarissa is already enjoying her new sewing machine. DDIL sent me a picture this morning of what she has done. Looks like she did well matching seams! This message has been edited. Last edited by: pvillelou,
Made a set of eight place mats as seen on the Dec cover of Quilter's World - made them in blue tone batiks for DD#2, also made a quilt for DD#1 and a quilt for DGD#2 for her 12/26 birthday - that was all the sewing I did for Christmas.

Well, I haven't wanted to admit it b/c I'm worried about the time left, but I'm hoping to finish 2 quilts before next Tuesday. I'd also love to do some other crafty ideas before then, but mom and MIL are arriving Fri/Sat and I'll be busy being a hostess. Guess I should strive to wrap gifts and finish those 2 quilts without starting something new.
I've made 3 fleece blankets {w/ name embroidered & crochet edgings--NOT tied} & several ornaments.
I mailed off 2 of the ornaments {to son's gf & my neice} & they both got them on sat {put dc # on pkgs}. I have yet to get a ty...how long should I wait or should I just come right out & ask them what they thought of them? I put a lot of time into these beacuse each ornament took me almost 5 hr to make 1. I know they've both been on fb and texting back & forth to my son but not to me....all I'd like is a simple TY!
This is the 1 I sent to my neice...

I've made several wall hangings and a quilted advent calendar as gifts, but my big project was this quilt I made for a friend in Canada. I sent it off yesterday, but there was a huge mixup on the labeling and customs forms, and now I have no idea if it will really get to my friend. I am so scared and worried about this. Saying goodbye to a quilt you have put your heart into is difficult enough without having to worry that it will never get to its destination. Anyway...here it is... "Black Bear in the Canadian Woods"...

sewlove2quilt, I would ask if they received them because the delivery confirmation just says they were delivered but doesn't verify what address it was delivered to.

Elle, that is a beautiful quilt. I'm sure your friend will love it and that it will get there. International mail is always a hassle, but well worth it.
Tote bags. The Hawaii one is filled to the brim with Hawaii stuff (food, goodies, hat, shirt, etc.) for my grandpa. The salsa one is filled with chips and various kinds of hot salsas for my uncle.

Stockings for my extended family. I also made some for my immediate family (Parents, brother, myself) but haven't taken a picture. All the way to the left is a Hawaii themed one for my grandpa, then art for grandma, then sinking of the Bounty for my uncle and Simpsons for another uncle.

I forgot to take clearer pictures of the finished items I sent to my GD Layla and her mama. I made the table cover over three years embroidering while waiting at hospital for friends DH surgery and then saw how to make Christmas trees from Missouri Star Co. The extras I made an advent calendar for GD. I used circle tags that you put on car rings and glued little pictures on the circles. I sewed bra hooks on the center of the tree and the ornaments hang on the bra hooks. The little bag on the left stores all the ornaments.

I've made a few towels from Moda's retro toweling, pillow cases, a baby blanket, and a ton of zippered quilted pouches of various sizes & themes.
Not much to show for a whole year! Well, other sewing "got in the way" of gift sewing. Vowing once again to start in January.... I even started a notebook of nothing but small gift ideas.

I just finished my last gift that I wanted to do. My son asked for a reversible tablerunner. I made the "easy striped" snowman on one side and this is the second side. The pattern is one that Sue brought back from Vegas and we worked on it yesterday. It is called Sparks and it is by Whispering Creek Productions. The directions were easy to follow.
